I loved the Rush Limbaugh show. I have been listening to it for years and have always been comforted by his ever-increasing audience. It showed that conservative ideas work. The show serves a purpose — a purpose that we need fulfilled more now than ever. Unfortunately, it is not serving that purpose fully now. Rather than building on his legacy, we are wallowing in the sadness of his loss.

Yes, Steyn is very knowledgable, but his voice quickly becomes annoying. Plus, he spends a lot of air time laughing at his own jokes, or used to anyway. Same with Levin. A little goes a long ways.
Steyn is smart and funny. He doesn’t sound like he’s intoning for radio, and he avoids the tired rightist cliches.
I can't stand it. There aren't too many English accents I don't dislike. Daphne on Frasier was ok. Julie Brown of MTV fame, I could not take. Any of the Royal family high society type of accents, can't stand. Gorka's long drawn out drawl drives me nuts. Steyn is from that region where they pronounce their Rs like young children.
I think Newman is doing pretty good. I had to take a road trip the other day and listened to the whole show and he was playing a lot of Rush clips but working them into the current conversation but it does need to move on pretty soon.
Nobody could ever replace Rush, and if they try to install that prattling Canadian then count me out.
Amen. Mark is intelligent enough, but I can’t stand his psuedo intellectual(?) stammering and repeating portions of each sentence. I want to reach through the radio and shake him and yell, “Just talk! Don’t stammer and repeat and take twice as long to SAY something!
I love how some people presume to speak (and feel, apparently) for others. I'm not wallowing, Leann. I'm enjoying the clips from the past.
Ugh. I’d never listen again if Steyn took over. He was my least favorite substitute host, and I’d usually turn the radio off. His voice timbre grates on my ears, and his sense of humor is terrible, although he seems to love it.
The late Lee Rodgers in SF would have been good. Rush combined seriousness, intelligence and simplicity to his arguments. Then he topped it off with humor. The only one that comes close today is Mark Davis and he’s not into it. Wm. F. Buckley would talk high above us and end his sentences with simplistic humor.
I think Steven Crowder would be really good, he’s also got a theater background, which really adds to the presentation, and when he teams up with Dave Landau, it’s even better.
The best Rush replacement was the late Walt Williams RIP.
Agree 100%. I loved Walter Williams. If you have not watched them, there are many great videos of him sharing his wisdom on YouTube.
Timeless wisdom. What a truly brilliant and gifted man and much like Rush, he just oozed “nice”.
Cut it to 90 minutes with Mark Steyn and livestream it, or shut it down.
I am rooting for Wayne Allen root right attitude beliefs and knowledge
Yeah this was iind or poor planing on Rush’s show. I mean finding a replacement for him is next to impossible, but the fill ins although are good, are not great. Rush IMO should have groomed Mr. Snerdly -James Golden to take over. Now not only has Rush died, but his show will probably go as well. One person I think could take the reigns might be James Woods. Very intelligent, funny and hates libs as much or more than Rush did. Worth a shot.
James Golden would be really good behind the golden EIB microphone
What about Andrew Wilkow? He’s been on Sirius radio at the same time as Rush’s show anyway... Which was probably a tough gig. Contractually Rush was not able to go on Sirius radio at that time, And going up against Rush was some seriously tough competition, But he did a pretty darn good job and might get some of the audience.
Wow, flashback - and you’re right. Though I do love me some Mark Steyn.
Rush losing WGAN Portland ME in favor od regional host Grace Curley
I think I’m at least a week ahead of you and only check every few days (like today) to see if they’ve been able to pull out of it but not happening so I turned it off.
Ah. Bo Snerdly....perhaps.
