I actually got to watch an entire Kabuki performance some years ago. For those who don’t know, the stage hands are dressed in black as they move props and backdrops about. The audience is supposed to pretend they can’t see the stage hands.

Which begs the question, who are the stage hands in this performance? Unlike kabuki, they all appear to be hidden. You’d think some enterprising person who calls himself or herself a ‘journalist’ would start asking some questions.
