Disney+ removes 'Peter Pan,' 'Dumbo' from children's profiles due to negative stereotypes

(WPDE) — Disney+ has removed several movies from children's profiles on its service due to negative stereotypes.

ADVERTISEMENT The Walt Disney Company previously showed content warnings on the films for “negative depictions and/or mistreatment of people and cultures” in October but has now removed access to the films for children under 7.

Adults can still view the movies on their Disney+ accounts with the content warnings.

Some of what Disney has said about each of the movies at the "Stories Matter" section include:

“Dumbo” (1941): “The crows and musical number pay homage to racist minstrel shows, where white performers with blackened faces and tattered clothing imitated and ridiculed enslaved Africans on Southern plantations. The leader of the group in Dumbo is Jim Crow, which shares the name of laws that enforced racial segregation in the Southern United States.” “Peter Pan” (1953): “The film portrays Native people in a stereotypical manner that reflects neither the diversity of Native peoples nor their authentic cultural traditions. It shows them speaking in an unintelligible language and repeatedly refers to them as ‘redskins,’ an offensive term. Peter and the Lost Boys engage in dancing, wearing headdresses and other exaggerated tropes.” “Swiss Family Robinson” (1960): “The pirates who antagonize the Robinson family are portrayed as a stereotypical foreign menace. Many appear in ‘yellow face’ or ‘brown face’ and are costumed in an exaggerated and inaccurate manner with top knot hairstyles, queues, robes and overdone facial make-up and jewelry, reinforcing their barbarism and ‘otherness.’” “The Aristocats” (1970): “The (Siamese) cat (Shun Gon) is depicted as a racist caricature of East Asian peoples with exaggerated stereotypical traits such as slanted eyes and buck teeth. He sings in poorly accented English voiced by a white actor and plays the piano with chopsticks.” The content warning displays on the films says:

“This program includes negative depictions and/or mistreatment of people or cultures. These stereotypes were wrong then and are wrong now. Rather than remove this content, we want to acknowledge its harmful impact, learn from it and spark conversation to create a more inclusive future together. Disney is committed to creating stories with inspirational and aspirational themes that reflect the rich diversity of the human experience around the globe.”

If you have read Atlas Shrugged, you will remember that everyone was in fear of those in power and cowed to their demands like sheep for their own protection..................

I was at a work meeting years ago and I said something about Indians, and one woman smugly informed me that it was wrong to use that term. I told her my dad and everyone else in his family were Cherokee and they called themselves and other tribes indians, so I didn’t care for a white woman telling me how to speak. She didn’t say a word.

Much like riding in the back of station wagons bereft of today’s safety cocoons, we managed to survive intact watching these Disney movies. The idiots promoting this garbage, the parents who raised them, and the cucks at companies who fold at the slightest raised voice all need a swift kick or two in the behind and then told to knock it off.

How hard is it for someone to get Polish citizenship or residency? I think Poland is a sane country. I’m tired of living in a country that is committed to its own destruction.

“Jim Crow” is black in Dumbo. Also the crows at the beginning are looking down on Dumbo. Unlike the white clowns, they repent (characters are morally superior) and help the less fortunate. The movie makes it pretty clear that who’s good and who’s bad has nothing to do with color and maybe that’s why the libs hate it.

What a bunch of idiots. Think about the crows from “Dumbo”. They show up when the poor baby is at his lowest with his mother taken away. They provide him comfort and support. How is that racist?

Gilligans Island because of the occasional native appearing. The Office because of Michael Scott and anything he says.

“Every record has been destroyed or falsified, every book rewritten, every picture has been repainted, every statue and street building has been renamed, every date has been altered. And the process is continuing day by day and minute by minute. History has stopped. Nothing exists except an endless present in which the Party is always right.”
― George Orwell, 1984

All rulers in all ages have tried to impose a false view of the world upon their followers, but they could not afford to encourage any illusion that tended to impair military efficiency. So long as defeat meant the loss of independence, or some other result generally held to be undesirable, the precautions against defeat had to be serious. Physical facts could not be ignored. ... Inefficient nations were always conquered sooner or later, and the struggle for efficiency was inimical to illusions. Moreover, to be efficient it was necessary to be able to learn from the past, which meant having a fairly accurate idea of what had happened in the past. Newspapers and history books were, of course, always coloured and biased, but falsification of the kind that is practiced today would have been impossible.
― George Orwell, 1984

All that’s true but I wouldn’t make big deal out of it, just make a new and improved version. Of course, any new version these days would be even worse with gender-bending idiocy and woke stupidity.

Huck Finn has been on the Leftist list for a long time. I think that novel has just faded away. I read that novel in high school but I seriously doubt it is being read anymore.

Dumbo, being an elephant is obviously a republican.

Peter Pan made the unforgivable faux pas of shortly after meeting Wendy saying "Girls talk too much."

Nothing like the truth to piss off a liberal...

Good point. I read Ayn Rand’s brilliant (and prescient) journey into the human mind while in high school decades ago. Reading it was among of the best things I did to prepare for adulthood and for understanding human emotions and motivations — far better than anything I learned in college about such things (even back when universities still functioned as centers for critical thinking and open discussion).
