Note the record lows in the chart for Jackson Hole

Winter of 78-79 was rather entertaining

Note the point about the inversion layer in the Hole. As you climb out of Jackson the temperature goes UP, not down. Quite spectacular to be at say 14000 on top in the sun with the Grand Tit right next to you...

Gross! I would definitely not consider skiing at 50 below. I know Steamboat had a regular inversion as well. It was nice to get off the gondola and have it be much warmer up top.

It’s a nice, but expensive place to visit.

When it gets to -50F it’s time to Hole up. The ski/snow friction goes WAY up. Not useful.

-50F is not the norm and shouldn’t keep one away, even for living there [should one happen to have Cheney FU money].
