No, conference goers didn't gather to spread conspiracy theories. No, they didn't bow down to a golden statue of Trump. And no, the stage wasn't designed to pay homage to Nazi symbology.
Fascism, a form of big government, is hated among conservatives.
Outsiders in the mainstream media really piled on the hate.
"There will be no policy debates," claimed an MSNBC opinion columnist. That's false.
The truth, it seems, was of no value in reporting on this year's Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC).
Among speeches from high-profile Republicans were dozens of panels and debates on a broad spectrum of policy issues — which was the purpose of the gathering. Conference-goers are entertained by the stars and informed by the discussion.
These panels presented problems facing society and discussed a broad pool of options from which to draw solutions, including the market; public-private partnerships; individuals; the community; the federal system; and, in limited capacities, the federal government.
Perhaps this explains why there isn't a CPAC equivalent on the left. Their only solution is more government.
Gathering to discuss and debate a broad range of sources for solutions to the problems that face society is what America needs right now. If COVID taught us anything, it is that government alone can't be the answer. It's a healthy practice in politics to discuss and reach wide for answers — one that should be encouraged if critics are really worried that their political opponents are susceptible to any single "big lie."
No one at CPAC, including myself, agreed with everything that was said.
The conference even featured panels designed specifically to encourage self-criticism. "Tough Love: An Assessment of the Republican Party" was hosted on Sunday.

America got a real state of the union address.
Good insight, that the only solutions from the left is more government. An ever increasing storm of fascism rising from their bullshiite rhetoric.
If Laz was there, he would be hustling some of those very attractive young Republican ladies, who are rare creatures in the increasingly banal world of popular femininity, that cannot separate the real world from the bizarro world of the left.
This factor also plays are large part in the socialization process at CPAC. People make life long friendships there.
But one thing is sure, CPAC stoked the lefts fear of America First to even higher levels, so much so, that they say Nazis reflected in the very walls , stage and chandeliers of the Hyatt.
You see they have no one who can muster 80,000 outdoor rally attendees in 72 hours. That irks them now end and empowers our cause.A fact we are too willing to forget at times.
CPAC should change its name to the World Bullschitter Congress. What good has that forum ever accomplished in its entire existence?
And...Youtube again shows its colors, it has banned RSBN from showing Trumps speech.
Democrats don’t have real solutions to real problems. Their primary concern is on how to bugger the electorate, with legislation with phony names like “the affordable care act”, the “for the people act” and the like. Oh, and how to steal elections, and bugger the constitution.
With your insight you might be best to let the gathering slip by the way side.
So you disliked President Trump’s speech then?
I watched it live on RSBN via Youtube.. Are you saying they removed the ability to see it again?
” the stage wasn’t designed to pay homage to Nazi symbology.”
The jury isn’t in on that one yet!
Let me fix it:
the stage wasn’t designed by anyone at CPAC to pay homage to Nazi symbology.
From what I hear on the news. Obscene amount of censoring.
Obviously some entity doesn’t want MAGA.
I would really, really want to know what group that is.
Not particlularly. He’s done much better.
Actually, that would make a great joke. Have attendees really, really overact it, and then see how long it takes the lefties to catch on.
