The golden age of objective journalism about 1940 to 1965, starts on page 55.
I think the internet, including the ability of “non-journalists” to report facts instantly from all around the world, and the overall ease of gathering news online also has damaged the traditional news-gathering focus of the media. So, they’ve turned to “narrative journalism” to go beyond pure news-gathering.
Joe needs to b coddled, he’s not well. But Jill should be doing it, not the media.
How do you like standing in line at the grocery store and having to see Kommiela’s face plastered on women’s magazines with glowing comments? Spit.
I knew there was a reason I never bought those. Gag.
IMO the worst that happened was that news reporting became a specialized degree course at the college level going well past news reporter Rudyard Kipling's sage and concise dictum.
"I keep six honest serving-men
(They taught me all I knew);
Their names are What and Why and When
And How and Where and Who."
That was taught in my HS freshman Civics class, circa 1962, not in the English course. We were taught how to read a newspaper, spotting the biases of presentation and omissions of pertinent facts. Dragnet's Det. Joe Friday, "Just the facts ma'am." summed up the approach to reading the news.
We now have journalism degree courses such as Columbia's...
"Columbia University School of Journalism offers rigorous M.A., M.S., Ph.D. and dual degree programs taught by world-renowned faculty in New York City. Apply to degree programs, explore opportunities for career advancement and read the latest from our award-winning faculty, students and alumni."
Imagine that, four to six years of intensive training to lie and obfuscate to shape public opinion. And now the social media tyrants, reptilian Zuckerberg and Rasputin Dorsey have added the silencing any questioning of the party line in Stslinist manner.
my now long standing tag line..."We are ruled...by liars who refuse them news, and by fools who can not govern." Chesterton
Is there an annual National Captain Obvious Award which Chad Banghart is competing for?
Please give us a few examples of right leaning media promoting an “agenda” as you say.
Boo Hoo Media,
.
LIES!
How can 18% of Republicans possibly be so stupid as to have any trust in the propaganda arm of the Democrat party?
Americans are putting up with a propagandist press.
This only tells me how finished this country really is.
