Breitbart ^ | 3/01/2021 | HANNAH BLEAU

Posted on 03/03/2021 7:19:38 AM PST by Bon of Babble

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) on Monday criticized certain Democrats for failing to support progressive demands for a $15 minimum wage, contending they are living in a “dystopian capitalist nightmare” and adding that the minimum wage should actually be $24 an hour.

There are so many issues with the minimum wage but if as a society we agree there should be one, it cannot/should not be the same everywhere. The cost of living varies significantly from place to place. It costs way more to live in NYC then it does in OKC for example.

Wrong. IMO putting a floor on wages in not fascism. LOL. Welfare and a continuing govt. subsidized unskilled labor force is the real FASCISM.

Half of America is stupid enough to elect her, as they did with Joey Bidet&Co.

$10 a gallon milk, a dozen eggs for $7, a loaf of bread for $6, $9 gas and the cheapest big city efficiency apartments will go for north of $2k a month.

Restaurants in small rural towns will go out of business.

High school kids won’t get jobs there.

If a small increase is good, then a big increase is better. If you disagree, then you are admitting that a small increase is harmful. Since you believe a small increase is good and a big increase is better, then why not argue for $50/hour minimum wage?

AOC is not thinking out of the box. How about No minimum wage? With an alternative?

There is one way to build a business that gives the "workers" a livable wage, yet doesn't require a floor in pay. Have the employees buy into the company, and share the profits.

Wage slaves are a descendant to agricultural businesses: a landowner procures the land and works the soil, but as the land holdings grows he hires farm hands. Those people work for a set wage regardless of how the business fares...and when things turn south, the jobs fly away.

The "city" way would be for the owner to attract the initial capital. Part of the capital is the people whose skills contribute to the success of the company. Just as people with the cash can buy shares, so can the employees buy shares with their work.

There is precedent: the "bonus pool" for management -- this is a slug of money that is distributed to directors, managers, and select necessary employees so that they are rewarded directly for their efforts. Extend this bonus pool to all employees that contribute directly to the company's success.

"But what about the janitors?" Outside of clean room environments, the cleaning crew can be employed by the cleaning company on the same basis, and contracted by the primary business. Or something like that.

Telling an employer what they have to pay their employees is fascism. It is textbook fascism. It is government inserting themselves into a contract between two parties - whether the parties like it or not.

Reminds me of Walter Williams learning to sew and making some money so he could better his education. Except one of the women that worked there complained about it and they came in and forced him to stop because he, at 15, was violating child labor laws.

Idiots. “One size fits all” government intervention in capitalism (and everything else) is what got us where we are today.

Ans as the man who penned the word “Fascism”, Mussolini said, “Fascism should more appropriately be called Corporatism because it is a merger of state and corporate power.”

And, in reality, that’s kinda where we are today. This will not end well.

Nope. There is regulation, and then, when it crosses a line, it becomes Fascism. It’s good that a company can’t dump their metal plating chemical baths down the storm drain, though.

If you want to raise the wages, then make a shortage of workers by making sure they all have jobs.

With a shortage of labor, other companies will raise their wages to attract new workers.

With tens of thousands of illegals now flooding the US, the wages will stay low because the illegals will work off the books in cash for far less than them minimum wage.
