That’s OK...I don’t think Melville did either. The book just goes from one thing to another.
There is a chapter about chowdah.
There is a chapter about a big wine vat in Heidelberg.
There’s a chapter about Jonah.
There’s a chapter that is a sermon.
There’s a chapter about a whale’s you-know-what.
There is even a chapter on “Whiteness” which could make “woke” college professors very uncomfortable.
It is an extremely WEIRD book, but I love it.
