No it’s not.
Agreed. The people endorsing this action have never experienced it or they’d think differently about it.
These levels are observations of course because obviously you can’t do a prospective study here.
If Floyd was a long term user, he could develop tolerance so the lethal dose could be higher. Some of the other drugs such as Methamphetamine could have a stimulating effect and partly negate the sedation and respiratory depression.
I wonder if Floyd just swallowed all his pills just before he saw the cops coming for him.
They were worried that he wasn’t breathing.
The existence of the billy club and attendant instructions doesn't negate the potential for an incompetent police officer to use the billy club incorrectly, with grevious outcomes.
And, GP, thanks for the link...because that Manual also says:
Physical force shall not be used against individuals in restraints, except as objectively reasonable to prevent their escape or prevent imminent bodily injury to the individual, the officer, or another person. In these situations, only the amount of force necessary to control the situation shall be used. Force used against a restrained or handcuffed individual shall be viewed with increased scrutiny in determining reasonableness.
Since that was the autopsy result, and no sign of brusing on the neck, uhhh yeah! They have the video before hhe was on the ground in the back of a police car saying he couldn’t breathe. Fent O.D.
From memory, his booking paper work said he weighed around 165 pounds.
Floyd, the dead guy, weighed like 50 pounds more than Chauvin.
Floyd was a former scholarship basketball player, and he clearly still had a large, solid, upper body and neck.
Regardless, I am still expecting a guilty verdict for Chauvin.
It will require extraordinary courage for any juror to vote Not Guilty.
One other note...
For some reason, the Medical Examiner did not examine the stomach for drugs.
The M.E. noted that the stomach contained no solids and just described a dark colored liquid.
In situations like this, it is not uncommon for people to eat illegal drugs.
The fact that the M.E. did not drug screen the stomach seems like inexcusable negligence to my eye.
I can tell you what happens to an fbi sniper who shoots an unarmed woman in the back while she’s holding a baby! He gets a medal and a pension, that we have to pay. Don’t you think for an instant that they won’t do the same to you. I’m wondering... what does anyone think about the odds that whitey bulger’s fbi stooge will be set free (given that his parole date is this year)? If you’re betting against it, I’m willing to give you odds.
It is not on the back of his neck.
Floyd was on his stomach, hands cuffed, head and face rotated 90 degrees to the right - exactly what the Police Manual says to do.
Try it yourself at home on the floor.
No soft neck tissue is exposed at all - only neck and shoulder muscles take the weight of the knee.
Was the FBI stooge convicted in state or federal court?
In federal prison, you serve the whole sentence, no early release for good behavior.
Do you people REALLY believe in a “fair day in court”? FOOLS! They use the cheapest garb, a black robe that empowers them to decide for evermore. Bullshi... Each and every one of these black robed posers is just an actor on a stage
Effin riots are justified no matter the decision /S
The side of his neck was against the ground. I don’t want the police to do be able to do that.
One side of his neck was on the ground, the other side was easily supporting the knee pressure.
In any event, here is the problem...
The knee-neck hold has been completely lawful for decades in hundreds of Police jurisdictions...
You do not like it and want it banned?
Fine.
But, what does that have to do with this case?
What may happen is a fear driven verdict of guilty which will be overturned by a higher court.
Thank you. Yes the officer was in the middle of a near riot and couldnt reasonably keep his eye on floyd without endangering himself. The crowd is more to blame than the officer.
WHAT does the AUTOPSY SAY??/ FOLLOW THE SCIENCE!
The people around thought he couldn’t breathe, and he was saying he couldn’t breathe. I don’t want the police to be able to do that.
If Floyd had said: "I just swallowed a lethal dose of fentanyl, and I can't breath," the Police response would have been much different.
