Thanks! He’s hoping for Texas Tech. Yes Computer Science. He already got into Oregon Tech—but very cold! He’s a skilled programmer already (had 2 P/T jobs coding now), but his GPA is not the best, so he didn’t apply to top schools.
He is looking for public school with reasonable out-of-state tuition. And TX really offers that (FL, for example, does not).
He loves New Orleans and was accepted into University of New Orleans but it’s looking like they are planning still hybrid/online/in-person mix. Most colleges nationwide seem to be still thinking along those lines for Fall 2021 unfortunately.
Thanks again. He got into 4 Cal States which of course is the most affordable option but they are hopeless about reopening. Chico State already announced only 30% in person classes will be offered—and it’s 7 months from now!
I’d have him go with Texas Tech - a big city that’s not gone liberal like the other big Texas cities. We here in eastern New Mexico look to it for everything besides the university from shopping to restaurants to health care (most all of us with insurance that allows out of state treatment schedule treatment at the Covenant hospitals and clinics there). And it’s a city that still believes in people helping others with numerous churches and church sponsored schools. Very rare in todays permissive climate.
