Nearly Half of Tokyo High Schools Request Proof of Students' 'Real Hair'

Data released this week from the Tokyo Metropolitan Board of Education released showed that 44.6% of Tokyo’s 177 full-time high schools request “real hair certificates.” Students with hair that don’t adhere to the “straight and black” standard are asked to submit proof that their hair is natural.

Some schools reportedly ask for childhood photos as evidence. The certificates must also be signed by a guardian.

In filing this form, schools can “prevent any misunderstanding about a student’s natural hair,” the Tokyo board stated.

Japan’s school rules have repeatedly come under fire for being too strict, with guidelines often cited as infringing on a student’s freedom of expression. The color of students’ underwear and socks, eyebrow shape, and skirt length are among some of many restrictions. Hair dyeing and varied hair styles are also frowned upon.

“No inner city school students are performing academically as well as the Japanese.”

And beyond that, I doubt that there is ANY inner city school in the US that can hold a candle to the worst-performing inner city school in Tokyo, Osaka, or any other city there.

“aving students show up with pink hair is not conducive to a learning environment”

When I think of the myriad other things in our public schools that are tolerated, which are not conducive to a learning environment, I agree, Japan is on the right track with this.

people have the rest of their lives to prove how special they are... on their own time

AFTER they have an education and no excuse to not be a drag on the economy and society

When I went to Catholic elementary school many decades ago, coloring hair wasn’t even a consideration. My bangs came down over my eyes, and I was told to cut them or I wouldn’t graduate. They were pretty strict in those days. But I have fond memories of that school.

Japanese are one of the most messed up failures of a modern developed society that are still around (at least for now).

decades of s stagnant economy, endemic corruption , falling population, nobody wants to have babies, and they drum up false charges against anyone who tries to shake things up (like the Nissan CEO) They would have been a third world country if the US hadn’t saved their economy after WWII

The US doesn’t need to take any lessons from them in society building.

“The US doesn’t need to take any lessons from them in society building.”

You’re welcome to argue against their Japan-first policy, but it sure sounded a lot like Trump’s policy here.

And you’re welcome to battle whatever demons you have in your head, but unlike liberal nutjobs, we know Trumps plans didn’t include us ending up a dying irrelevant society.

In the Preamble to our Constitution, We the People charged its government to protect ourselves and our POSTERITY.

It’s another reason beyond our Declaration why legal abortion is an outrageous assault on Natural Law and the Constitution.

No posterity . . . no country. Duh.
