Artist Tommy Zegan, 61, made the piece while in Mexico, where he currently leaves under a residency visa He transported it to Tampa before bringing it to CPAC in a U-Haul, where he is hoping to sell it for $100,000 Zegan made another version of the bust out of stainless steel, which he wants to sell for over $1 million Donald Trump himself is set to give the closing remarks at CPAC in Orlando, Florida on Sunday evening ...
...'He's wearing a business suit because he's a business man,' Zegan said to the New York Post. 'The red tie represents the Republican party, the red white and blue shorts represent the fact that he's a patriot.' Trump is wearing sandals in the statue, an ode to a life he could be living were he to retire.
Zegan titled the piece 'Trump and his Magic Wand,' a reference to a comment Trump's predecessor made about needing a 'magic wand' to revive jobs in the United States.

He could sell it to the Democrats as a Pinata.
Whoever bought that statue for CPAC didn’t do Trump any favors. It’s a caricature.
It is silly and goofy, but compare it to Obama statues, which literally are religious idols.
And CPAC fell for it? Are they in on the sabotage too?
Yes, that it is
“...as it’s revealed the golden idol was made in Mexico”
Trump had EXCELLENT relations with Mexico, even after they elected their Socialist leader. Why shouldn’t they honor him?
when exactly did we care on what leftards think of us? They hate us and I hate them. Pretty simple eh?
Reminds me of the stuff you see at Amusement Parks.
and Obrador HATED Trump before 2016 vowing “not to work with him”. You can check his previous comments IF you archive far enough on FR history.
It also hurts our cause, looking like the golden calf.
I initially thought it was meant to mock conservatives.

I remember that too...and then after the 2020 election, he refused to endorse the steal until it was completed (when he had no choice).
Nice to see fellow FReepers find this thing tacky.
I look at it and running through my head, I get “Violation of Commandment One”.
These folks don’t see the issue with a “golden idol?”
That’s kind of weird, isn’t it?
I’m sure President Trump doesn’t like being mocked as a gaudy cartoon character at CPAC by some third rate “artist”. My four year old granddaughter has more talent and better taste.
Matt and Mercedes Shlapp are very pro Trump - why on earth would would they allow this mockery to the President to take place?
Don’t they still run CPAC?
IMHO, those who have one gear -- which is to be upset and aggrieved by everything -- appear quite ridiculous and make the rest of us look that way, too.
It's a statue meant to be fun. Last time I checked this is permitted --- just check the MAGA charter.
Somewhere there is a Bobs Big Boy missing its Statue.
It looks more like the artist himself— the hair especially,
not a tribute to Trump.
“Tacky, vulgar gauche and out of proportion.”
That’s pretty much the definition of typical mexican folk art.
were I to wander onto a left website, I’d challenge them for their cultural insensitivity being that it’s a mexican artist. And watch them slobber all over themselves in confusion.
