I'm no expert, and my military experience is dated: from 1980-1981, I was the S-4 (Supply Officer) for a Chaparral/Vulcan battalion in Germany. Our mission was air base defense for Bitburg, Hahn, and Spangdahlem air basses. Our area of operations was about 1000 square miles. I served two years at C Battery at Hahn. Ever heard of a battery being 40+ miles from Battalion HQ?
Based on my experience, this plan is a cluster foxtrot just waiting to happen.
My youngest son, and several nephews, are of service age. I am advising them in the strongest possible terms, to stay the hell away from the military.
