NATO is deploying 3,500 more troops amid fears that ten thousand ISIS fighters are poised for a fresh wave of terror.
The incremental increase in troops come as ISIS fighters are reportedly on stand-by in northern Iraq, after using the pandemic to rebuild their forces.
In response, defence ministers agreed to bolster a NATO training mission aimed at strengthening the country's military.
NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said on Thursday the increases would be "incremental".
"The size of our mission will increase from 500 personnel to around 4,000," he said.
"Training activities will now include more Iraqi security institutions, and areas beyond Baghdad."
Stoltenberg insisted that the mission was being carried out "at the request of the Iraqi government".
"It is carried out with full respect for Iraq's sovereignty and territorial integrity," he said.

Why, what has changed?
10,000 ISIS fighters?
Interesting change. If there were fighters the press would have bludgeoned Trump with them.
So...what’s happened?
They mean 10,000 CIA created/funded/directed/etc. ISIS fighters.
Obama restarting his middle east army, ISIS, under Joe “I don’t know what I am signing” Biden.
There are some similarities between what is going on in the Middle East and the American Revolution. The Americans fought unconventionally and with few rules. The British dressed in red, marched in straight lines, and were bound by rigid doctrine. The Americans had the advantage. Plus, the Americans could just blend into the populace.
Isis has no rule, no scruples and no red lines they will not cross. They wear no uniforms and their organization is distributed or non-existent. They can be based anywhere. They get their supplies and sustenance from the populace, either by gift or by taking it. The militaries fighting them wear uniforms, are all notionally co-located, and have rigid rules of engagement that gives ISIS the advantage in every encounter.
There is no real head on the ISIS snake. It is the populace and can’t be killed as long as there is a populace. The West is better off just isolating the region and trading with it at a few controllable locations and NOBODY from the region should be allowed into any western nation.
3,500 NATO Troops, will be followed by U.S. Commitments We’re gonna station our Troops to war with ISIS (Who were defeated only to be resurrected by CIA probably).
Gladiatorial fights on a Geopolitical Gamesters of Triskelion bid to entertain themselves and grow their bank account gambling with peoples lives.
They sure got ISIS going again fast.
Joe Biden, the darling of the industrialized military complex, won the election. Now the global wars can begin again. We can start bombing Brown, Black and Asian people again, because Biden and the Democrat are NOT racists.............................LOL (Or so they say)
Not yet. Just give Xiden a little more time to completely undo all the victories that President Trump achieved over ISIS completely smashing them, and before we know it they'll have their caliphate setup again just like they did under Obama.
NATO needs to go out of business.
Yesterday.
Yep.
If Turkey attacked Iraq from the rear, would Greece help?
You joke, but much of what is no Turkey was claimed by Greece as recently as 100 years ago. Returning those areas to Greek control would be a good thing.
*** They mean 10,000 CIA created/funded/directed/etc. ISIS fighters.***
Correct. But, let’s target PMU’s who have fought ISIS in Northern Iraq.
And we think we can “defeat” them using conventional methods.
That’s rich.
By reinserting Western forces, the Liberal Hawks give the insurgents a common enemy that they can use to rally the populace and supply new fighters to their ranks.
More fighters + Westerners = more conflict More conflict = more $$$$$ for military contractors and their political friends.
Win/win*.
I see what you did there.
