Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis rallied a crowd at the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) to fight the “failed Republican establishment,” highlighting the ongoing battle over the direction of the GOP in the wake of former President Trump’s electoral defeat.
In opening remarks on the second day of CPAC, DeSantis cast himself as an acolyte of Trump and his brand of conservative populism, echoing the former president’s attacks on “open borders,” foreign labor and “military adventurism.”
In doing so, DeSantis previewed a fight to prevent the resurgence of the so-called establishment Republicans, who have challenged Trump’s vision for the party.
“Florida’s leading on the issues that matter to conservatives,” DeSantis said. “We don't spout hollow rhetoric. We take decisive action.”
“We cannot, we will not, go back to the days of the failed Republican establishment of yesteryear,” he continued. “We reject open borders and instead support American sovereignty and the American worker. Building a movement on amnesty and cheap foreign labor is like building a house on a field of quicksand.”

The more I hear about this guy the more I like him.
He’s looking better everyday, as a true Republican presidential contender.
“in the wake of former President Trump’s electoral defeat.”
G’wan, tell another one, The Shill.
75,000,000 votes is more than anyone ever before. That in no way is an “electoral defeat” even if you accept the ballot returns.
“moving away from Trump” simply isn’t going to happen. Mitt and McCain and JEB! never had or will have that level of support.
battle over the direction of the GOP in the wake of former President Trump’s electoral defeat.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
He wasn’t defeated, he was cheated.
By BOTH parties.
The Democrats could not have stolen the election without the assistance of the GOP.
Me three. I really like this guy. He’s a fighter.
Oh I think he knows that the electoral defeat is not one borne out of honesty.
DeSantis/Noem 2024
The only caveat is both have to find worthy successors.
Matt Gaetz for DeSantis
Building a movement on amnesty and cheap foreign labor is like building a house on a field of quicksand.
The entire purpose of the GOP since 1989 has been to block conservatives from stopping the Bush Plan for North Mexico (aka USA).
Bush League Republicans are simply Assistant Democrats, advancing the same agenda slightly slower.
They’re globalists, Jim. They can’t help themselves. /s
“The more I hear about this guy the more I like him.”
I second that.
I’m thinking he’d be a great veep for Noem.
This former Rep, now Governor has blossomed as Gov. and has done a
fantastic job in FLA.
The Republican establishment would rather give control of the Senate to the Democraps than have a Judge Moore elected.
Either way, they would make a great pair to lead the nation, and the party. 8>)
If Trump decides against running again, I don’t see how DeSantis is beatable. Who’s going to beat him? Nikki Haley the Fraud? Chris Christie the Fat? Pence the Coward? I don’t think so.
Put Noem on the ticket. Bring back Pompeo at State to finish what he started and put Cruz at Justice to exterminate the career vermin.
BTW, I think the media is fully aware DeSantis is the heir apparent which is why they target him for the worst press of all the GOP governors.
The GOPE Low-T RINO Cuck Club will collaborate with the RATS and the media (including Fox) in going after DeSantis.
I don’t see DeSantis as being on the wrong side of this, my criticism is at the author of the article
