I nearly posted that one. So beautiful.

My first thought as well. At the time I had to look up what "the Mersey" is. This was in the Beatles' early days, and this group may have been imitators, but as it turns out, their sound was more mellow. As you may already know, "The Mersey" is the River Mersey that flows across the industrial cities in the north of England, with its mouth at the ports of Liverpool.

Passed through there on my way from London to Scotland back in the late 60s. The countryside areas are very beautiful. Stayed over in Sheffield, where there was the Sheffield Silver plating company; and sampled the lovely local fish'n'chips. The people couldn't have been nicer. Long ago and far away.

I never got to England but my sister and I were huge Beatle fans and I was about 13 when that song came out.

There's a story behind the song.

Thanks, Albion Wilde, for the map of the Mersey, and for the tunes for troops. ((HUGS))
