Israel COVID vaccine data released for first-time in peer-reviewed journal
The Jerusalem Post ^ | FEBRUARY 25, 2021 | TZVI JOFFRE

A study conducted by the Clalit HMO (Health Maintenance Organization) studying the effectiveness of the Pfizer coronavirus vaccine among 1,200,000 people – half of whom received the vaccine and half who did not - became the first large scale study to be published in a peer-reviewed journal on Wednesday after it was published in the New England Journal of Medicine...

The (Pfizer) coronavirus vaccine prevents 57% of symptomatic cases within about two weeks after the first dose and 94% of symptomatic cases starting seven days after the second dose, according to the study...

The efficacy of the vaccine was found to be high and similar to the efficacy reported in clinical trials.

The researchers found that during the period from 14 to 20 days after the first dose, the vaccine was 46% effective at preventing confirmed infections, 57% effective at preventing symptomatic cases, 74% effective at preventing hospitalization, 62% effective at preventing severe illness and 72% effective at preventing deaths due to the virus.

In the period from 21 days to 27 days after the first dose – the week after the second dose – the effectiveness of the vaccine increased, becoming 60% effective at preventing confirmed infections, 66% effective at preventing symptomatic cases, 78% effective at preventing hospitalization, 80% effective at preventing severe illness and 84% effective at preventing deaths due to the virus.

Starting seven days after the second dose, the effectiveness of the vaccine improved significantly, preventing 92% of confirmed infections, 94% of symptomatic cases, 87% of hospitalizations and 92% of severe cases.

I answered your question nicely, see above.

Ask nicely, you get an answer.

You’re welcome.

Sorry to have been a bit snarky.

Apology accepted. It’s the internet and it’s been a rough year. I can take a little snark and worse at this point. And truly last thing I want is to feed false information, and always can learn more so I do appreciate corrections and additions and counterpoints.

So it PREVENTS 92% of confirmed infections. This PROVES this is a vaccine unlike what a vocal part of free republic would like toj to believe. It acts as any other vaccination preventing disease. And you can’t pass along that which you do not acquire.

Well this study seems to negate and set your propaganda on its rear end. I guess toj can keep fear mongering all you want. But it’s over. The vaccine works. Trump has given us and humanity one of the great scientific victories of all time.

“It acts as any other vaccination preventing disease.”

That now seems conclusive.

We will see more confirmation out of Israel. They are on track to vaccinate everybody by 10 April. Over 90% of the people over 65 years old have already received at least a first shot.

Since 4 Feb, new cases there have dropped in half (80K to 40K), according to Worldometer.

"I’m good. I’ve had two doses..."

I'm good too. I had the virus and recovered. I am starting to read where the specific T-Cell antigens are effective as long as the "so called" vaccine. (Read: Genetic Therapy). Anyone that has the virus I would think long and hard about getting genetic therapy.

“I think the important question is: Does it prevent those who get the vaccine from spreading it to others? Confirmed infection doesn’t necessarily mean no infection, could just mean very low (unconfirmed/undetectable) viral load.”

It lowers the probability by more than an order of magnitude.

Low viral load itself also makes those people who are infected, less infectious to others (compared to someone with a higher load).

In turn, when people are infected by an initially smaller amount of virus, their individual outcomes are also better - less likely to have symptoms, serious illness, die or transmit to others.

The virus takes longer to replicate to a high load, and the immune system has more time to respond - further impeding viral growth along the way. It is kind of race between offense and defense, to see which can overwhelm the other with sheer numbers.

Thank you for the reply and I do believe you nailed it having a good analytical mind. I am by no means an expert either and I would do pretty much anything before I would get a shot, I still call it a shot as it is not a true vaccination.

I mentioned it on several occasions taking the following vitamins and nutrients as advised by an MD will help to combat and shake off this virus should you get it. Of course it is advisable to take them like a prophylactic BEFORE you may encounter this virus and it gets a chance to establish itself, even so this combination will not protect you from catching it, but if you do this stuff will go to work immediately.

Another thing I would suggest is to read up on each of the components, so you get an idea what each one will do for you and there is plenty of info available on the internet and it may surprise you. Besides these vitamins/nutrients are beneficial for the human body either way if you get the virus or not.

Here is the lineup

.QUERCETIN+C+D+ZINC+NAC+MELOTONINE+B+COMPLEX

And by the way QUERCETIN is an IONOPHORE for zinc, similar to HCQ this means it will in simple terms unlock the cells and permit zinc to enter so it can stop the virus from proliferating. And NAC (N-acetyl-systemin) is a precursor to GLUTATHION, a potent immune system enhancer.

Correction it should read NAC N-Acetyl-Cysteine

Thanks. I actually am already taking most of those, though I recently added the Quercetin. I’m curious what doses you take? I take:

Quercetin - 500mg once a day
Zinc - 50mg 2x a day (I read that a post infection course is 25mg 8x per day as lozenge)
C - 1000 mg once a day
D3 Raw - 5000 iu once a day
B12 complex (I don’t recall the dose) once a day
Melatonin - 20mg-40mg at night mostly for sleep but it isn’t working tonight :-)

I also take some BP pills, Cholesterol meds, CoQ10, and DHA Omega 3 850mg, baby aspirin. The Quercetin I started more recently, the others I have been taking since before the pandemic though I did switch to straight zinc last year. Also take iron supplement but not daily. I am aware of the ionophore concept (quercetin, HCQ or Ivermectin and possibly others) necessary to transport zinc into the cells where it may block the receptors the virus binds to.

I have read people suggest NAC or other amino acids. I’ll look further into it. There are reports of some people having bad lung scarring from CV19 infection, and in theory NAC may help with that and related issues, anti-oxidant, and reduce HDL levels (or improve LDL levels I forget).

Other than high-ish blood pressure (kept to normal range with meds) I have none of the major co-morbidities associated with higher risk of death with CV19. I am bigger than I was in my college years (few aren’t!) but I’m not obese, and have gone off and on over the years with an Atkins (keto) type diet to keep weight off. (I prefer Atkins to Keto the main difference is Atkins stresses more protein while Keto more fat otherwise they are pretty much the same). I avoid sugar almost entirely, carbohydrates to the minimum, and take fiber supplement tablets which are net carb neutral (100% soluble) that help the digestive issues of a high protein low-carb diet.

Been tested 3 times (not because I wanted to know but because I was required to have proof for various reasons) all 3 times negative. I would like it to stay that way and hopefully run the clock out on this damn virus.

BTW and FWIW, the first time I started doing the Atkins type diet, every one of my blood tests was markedly improved - much to the surprise of my cardiologist. Blood sugar was never high but it dropped 30 points. Blood pressure stabilized. Total cholesterol dropped beyond that of the statin, and improved the LDL/HDL ratio which is counter-intuitive for a diet that is high in meat. I attribute all of it to the low carb / low sugar intake though it is just ‘anecdotal’.

Yes, seems the main issue is the slow immunoresponse to CV19 and getting it to ramp more quickly (relative to the virus replication) which is obviously benefited by keeping the viral load as low as possible while the immune system ‘learns’ how to respond to the infection. Also why I am dismayed that the CDC/FDA/NIH didn’t really put much effort into researching possible treatments, instead betting on a vaccine but to the possible detriment of half a million Americans. Most of the research on treatments comes from private sector clinicians and foreign governments like Australia. There was little reason for us not to do both (investigate treatments and develop vaccines) except perhaps money and the risk that a successful treatment would make vaccines not just unnecessary but could undermine statistical purity of the vaccine trials (lots of institutional interest in the mRNA platforms for future drug development, so I suspect one of the reasons to undermine investigation into off the shelf treatments was the desire to expand mRNA research). Thanks for your reply.
