Former President Barack Obama claimed reparations for black Americans are 'justified' but explained in his podcast with Bruce Springsteen that it was a 'nonstarter' during his presidency because of 'white resistence'.
During his 2008 presidential campaign, Obama appeared to oppose reparations and argued that 'the best reparations we can provide are good schools in the inner city and jobs for people who are unemployed.'
Obama, 59, has launched an eight-episode podcast series called Renegades: Born in the USA with the 71-year-old rock legend, released through Spotify’s partnership with the Obama’s Higher Ground production company.

They DO plan to start reparations. They will take money from people who were never slaveholders and give it to people who were never slaves.
Guilt does not pass down through the genes. Guilt does not jump from one light-skinned person to another.
If the country benefited from slavery, then EVERY person in it benefited.
But it’s a waste of breath. They are already doing it to a limited degree, but are not calling it reparations. They are already giving money to some people, based on their skin shade. It will be expanded.
Give all blacks that want “reparations” a one way ticket to the West African country of their choice.
Obama is the proof that the founders were correct to exclude the children of foreigners from being President with the natural born citizen clause.
Indeed, cases of malt liquor, cognac and Newports for all my friends! I looked up the numbers, and the median black household net worth in 2019 was $24,100 compared to $188,200 for whites. The Dems could, in one fell swoop, close that gap by cutting a “reparations” check to every black household for $164,000. But how long would that parity last? A year or two? Auto dealerships, amusement parks, apparel retailers, etc. would experience a temporary surge in spending from one demographic. Like lottery winnings, inheritances, and other money that was never earned, reparations would be spent freely. I feel confident in predicting that within, say, 10 years, the pre-reparations net-worth gap would be fully restored. Reparations would ultimately have zero effect on the real factors that drive net worth: spending, savings and investment habits.
This is not a new tact. Every time a liberal politician wants to fix something, whether it’s broke or not, they just throw money at it. They are the party of debt and bribery. And the Kenyan orator is all over it. He did it as president. Now he’s doing it racially.

Reparations for WHITES, whose European ancestors, generations of whom who fought a roughly 1000 year war against MUSLIMS, and were taken as slaves and concubines ,to Northwest Africa!!!!

What stuck out to me (maybe I oversimplify) is: how much “wealth” did this country have in 1865 when slavery was over? That’s the only “wealth” they could have built .
Someone do the math: his claim totally ignores the backs of the settlers and pioneers who hacked their communities out of the wilderness, the poor white sharecroppers and itinerant field hands, the pre-Revolutionary hordes of white indentured servants (Ben Franklin was one), all the white military conscripts/draftees, all the whites who died in the Civil War, all the well-to-do white women who donated charitable labor, particulary during war times, the middle- and lower-income white women who provided child care, elder care and nursing care because they couldn't work outside the home, or who worked at greatly reduced rates compared to men prior to the 1980s-90s, etc. etc. Obama needs to grow the hell up. He's like a jealous sibling.
This is exactly correct. This is the opposite of unity. It is madness.
We can debate if reparations are appropriate for those who are descendants of slaves.
We can debate if reparations are appropriate for Native Americans.
However, the idea reparations should go to anyone who is not a descendant of slaves, just because they are "black" is absurd. That would make Obama eligible.
Obama grew up as an upper-middle class white child. He was raised by his upper-middle class white mother and upper middle class white grandparents. He went to the whitest, toniest, most expensive private school in Hawaii.
