China may instigate something with a nation that will kick the
snot out of it, before we have to.
Would be interesting to see how Japan reacts to an attack
on Taiwan.
Other nations might want a part of that action as well.

Good point. Isn’t it true that the Japs actually have a very capable nav - uh, “Maritime Self-Defense Force”?
The Chinese might do well to think twice...
