Republican run and control the state of Texas and their grid was “offline” =not hooked up with any other state so Texas would not have to go by federal regulations.
Demorats had nothing to do with this.
I thought Texans said they can do everything on their own and want to be independent. Texas doesn’t need anybody. They have their own grid. Why are they blaming the Feds?
Texas didn’t winterize their grid and didn’t have emergency plans for extreme weather.

Texans may have egos, but they are small compared to those of Green Envirowackos pushing Anthropogenic Global Warming, "Greenhouse" Carbon Sequestration and Nuclear, Coal, Oil and Natural Gas Bans.
Texans were driven from the grid by the long time INSANE Federal policies, and they made some mistakes, but the FOUNDATIONAL FAULT was Envirowacko Fed.
As of this morning reports indicate not a single item has been delivered to the cold stricken people of Texas.
When there is snow and ice on Galveston Bay, it's a once a century ba storm - not one designed for repeated cold weather.
You're looking at it as someone who has lived in areas where you get feet of snow annually and have experience in how to adapt. These people don't until now. And because of this being a once a century issue, the upgrades aren't considered cost effective - at least until the death toll comes in from hypothermia related deaths.
Oh and my city, which gets ice storms, was shut down since Monday night and on a "boil water" requirement since Wednesday evening - and now all restaurants on the local utility line are closed because of the contaminated water issue from frozen mains and blown water lines - and this is with people who do know how to adapt in colder conditions.
Not everyone has your lived experience. Even those that do can overwhelm the systems in place to cause long-term problems.

They refuse to hook up to the national grid to avoid fed regs. That is in my opinion good. They allowed people not in Tx to serve on their utility board. Those people have no skin in the game usually bad.
This is exactly right! Bush immediately offered help with Katrina. The governor of LA and the mayor of New Orleans failed to accept it...out of their contempt for Bush. There’s some law about how the Feds can’t just swoop in and give help. The State and local governments need to approve it or ask for it. It doesn’t seem like Biden even offered Federal help. He’s hiding in the basement.
