Local activist and rapper Cameron "C-Grimey" Williams was fired from the Chattanooga Public Library on Wednesday after allegedly burning library books by conservative authors.
Williams, known for his role organizing protests last year against police brutality, was placed on paid administrative leave from his role at the library in December after video surfaced of him apparently burning books by then-President Donald Trump and conservative commentator Ann Coulter.
In a video posted temporarily on Instagram, Williams appeared to burn copies of Coulter's "How to Talk to a Liberal (If You Must)" and Trump's "Crippled America" in an outdoor fire, spraying each with lighter fluid. "FDT," a Trump protest song by YG and Nipsey Hussle, played in the background.
Williams believes his firing is a show of political retaliation and racism from the library and the community member who reported him.
"I really believe that this was political. It's definitely a perpetuation of white supremacy. None of this would have never ever ever been a problem if someone who doesn't believe in me speaking for equality for Black people wouldn't have reported it."

What does a “a part-time library specialist” actually do?
This headline reads like a Bee article. The juxtaposition in the story couldn't be more stunning, and your comment couldn't be more spot-on.
And yet, it'll be lost on scores of people.
Rewarded with a paid vacation.
Actually you were stating a fact and one of BLMs tenets!
Burn conservative books, apparently.
So, he stole from his employer.
Topping the 2021 list should be the books that C-Grimey burned:
Not anymore...
Thanks. I haven’t even had coffee yet.
Picture of Cameron, the “protestor”....
Old : “A face that only a mother could love.”
New: “I’m outta here, dudes. No way.”-—Cameron’s Mother
Then: “Oh, and call me when he turns his life around.”
Picture of earlier Nazis burning books (precursors to today’s Dems and Socialists)....
I will again cite:
“....Also among those works burned were the writings of beloved nineteenth-century German Jewish poet Heinrich Heine, who wrote in his 1820–1821 play Almansor the famous admonition, “Where they burn books, they will also ultimately burn people.”
In reality libraries routinely “deselect” or cull books from the existing shelved ones to make room, often for seating space for half asleep readers to use their phones and laptops rather than actual volumes.
Also due to cost of cataloging and shelving, most donation books are sold for book sale fundraising or more likely put in the trash compactors in back.
I worked in university libraries from 1969-2017. One perfect example:
I saw on the shelf of incoming new books for processing a donated copy of And That’s the Way It Isn’t: A Reference Guide to Media Bias
by Brent Bozell and Brent H. Baker (1990). Next it was deemed too conservative by librarians and went to the trash outside (not book sale).
Funny true story: A writer went to a library book sale (50 cents and $1.00) and brought a book up to “a librarian” at the checkout table (admittedly ,it may have been a clerk or volunteer he talked to) and said :
“I want to tell you this book was put with the cheap books but I can assure you this is a genuine Ernest Hemingway first edition.” She said, bored, “So, who is Ernest Hemingway?”
First they burn the books.
Then they burn the librarians.
Too funny.
I collect old science fiction paperbacks, and I just keep my mouth shut as I pay twenty five cents at a library sale for a book that sells for one hundred bucks online...
:-)
Good. Reward for high intelligence is part of evolution.
It’s very enlightening how easy it is for the US to descend into another Kristallnacht. All it takes is a single democrat. Don’t expect the media to ask the perv-in-chief to condemn the individual; we have our Goebbels.
Let’s see. As an library assistant, he:
Stole conservative books from library (theft of public property).
Burned conservative books (destroyed public property).
Violated basic library science principles and practices regarding the protection and preservation of knowledge and public access to it.
Allowed personal feelings about the authors and/or the material’s content to influence performance of his duties.
Exploited his trusted position as a library assistant to carry out his actions.
Violated Chattanooga Public Library rules and regulations by his actions.
Brought controversy and criticism of the library system and library sciences through his actions.
Dang!
Obviously a case of racism and white supremacy if ever there was one.
As a black man, it is understood that he lacks the individual capacity for agency and is never to be considered personally responsible for his actions. It was the fault of the books that he did what he did. They compelled him to burn them.
(Among left/liberals, this is the structure of their basic argument against guns in private possession. Why not apply it to books they don’t like as well?)
Committing an act of civil disobedience and personally accepting the lawful consequences for the act (including being fired) is OLD THINK!
< /sarcasm>
“What does a “a part-time library specialist” actually do?”
That one wastes oxygen and collects a paycheck.
A face to go with his hair style.
Was he the janitor? Looks like one.
