Oil furnace and large oil tank are useless without power to run it.
People new a big freeze was coming so you plan ahead.
We do that to our hunting cabin come fall here in Upstate.
How much power does it take to keep an oil furnace running? Probably not a very large portion of your normal total usage. Set it up with the option to run off a backup power source and get one large enough for that projected need. Then you’re at risk only if the supply chain for replacement oil or generator fuel goes down too long.
One advantage of propane. Our propane fireplace had a pilot light of which the flame impinged on a small thermopile, which supplied JUST enough electric energy to open the fireplace valve at the "flick of a switch". Very convenient, very reliable.

Seems people forget that many things impact power for the user. Just
having some type back up system isn’t worth a dime if the overall
supply grid has taken a fall.
Major freezing/icing impacts many portions of the overall grid from
generation to transmission to local distribution. These all can be
impacted and if one fails to a large degree it impacts the rest.
Major freezing also impacts many other areas such as transportation,
local business operation, emergency services, etc. etc.
