Independant Facebook fact checkers have verified your information is at least partialy incorrect, Australia does not exist! Lord almighty, FB called me dangerous and I was like “WHAT”?. BUT TO BAN AN ENTIRE CONTINENT!! If this is true, We are in good company
Out of 25 million in population for the country...only 9-million use FB daily (the chatter is another four million might go and use it once or twice a week). So consumer-wise, if you figure you wanted to whip the Australian government in some way...it won’t work.
I would take a guess that one-third of the daily users....simply take pictures of some party going on, or pictures of their dog/cat, etc.
If anything...this news content deal will suggest other countries/states will follow this, and FB’s value will decrease over the next year or two.

It’s hard to find a good guy in this fight. The Australian government saw Facebook as a potential target for its army of ticks and Facebook is playing tough with them. That taken in isolation would have me cheering Facebook. But they are a scummy company trying to silence the right so I want them to lose too.
Ruh Roh! Did someone say it’s hot in Australia and the “climate fact checkers” at facebook, knowing that it’s winter (see Texas) have blocked the Aussies for spreading false info? Well, yale and cambridge X-spurts ya know.
Well, they can fight GOOD and long, GOOD and mean, and GOOD and hard and some good will come out of it.
Allowing American tech oligarch social media to operate freely in one’s country is a national security threat. If they and the US deep state will shut down and censor an elected American President, just imagine what they will do to you.

I’m not a Facebook fan but I’m with them on this one. Australia passed a law that would tax Facebook every time someone posts a link to an Australian media site - even if it was the publisher themselves that posted the link. It would have cost Facebook billions. Facebook decided that it was better business to just eliminate links to Australian publishers. Australia has no basis to act all outraged. It’s like imposing a massive sales tax on potatoes and then acting all shocked when people quit buying potatoes.

Well, your (libertarian) ‘principle’ just got us Biden/Harris by PREVENTING hearings on Section 230. The companies had FREE REIGN to supply a good billion dollars in in-kind (i.e., illegal) contributions that cost us the election, AND OUR FREEDOM.

By the standard the pointy-head libertarians are showing here, they would have allowed AT&T to shut down all phone service to Reagan’s 1980 campaign, for whatever reason they wanted.
Sorry, not me. Facebook needs to be SHUT DOWN and if it takes Australia, China, or any other country to do it, so be it.
