I’m sure that BiXiden and The Ginger Goebbels are very busy “monitoring” the situation.

If a person decides to take leave or vacation It’s strictly up to that person unless there are recalls in place or emergencies going on.

Did Congress recall anybody? No.

Is there an emergency going on? Kind of, but Congress has done nothing to tell their members that they have to stick around.

So Ted Cruz is not at fault here.

“Was he supposed to show up to walk the power lines with a big wrench, hard hat, and high voltage suit?”

He certainly would have been better off staying home and reading a novel. This stunt is a career killer.

Ted did nothing wrong, but the Libs will Dogpile him anyway, because it’s what they do to any republican.
Don’t even apologize, Ted. Family comes first if you have the means to protect them.

She was with them. He ‘forgot’ to mention that.

>Where is his wife ?

In Cancun if she has any sense. Hell, I’d be there if I could, cold as hell here.

Still, bad move Teddy.

“ Not the way you do it Ted.
You send the family to Cancun...and you stay home to save your state.”

Yup, Teddy is living proof that smart people can make stupid decisions.

You can be technically correct and still have terrible optics. Kind of like Nixon winning the Kennedy debate.

He is lying. It has been confirmed that the ticket was booked for Saturday return.

There are all kinds of things wrong with what he did.

And he is going to pay a price for jetting off to Cancun like an out of touch elitist.

If he makes it through his term (ending in 2024), I’ll be surprised at this point.

A voice doesn’t generate electricity. What could he do?

Political theater?

Maybe endure the same privations that his constituents are suffering through?

Boy we sure have our fair share of clowns on the forum today.

Over one million people out of power. A number of folks have
died. Many of those who didn’t die yet, have some real
problems avoiding that.

Those people have families, children, and live-stock that
have to be cared for, and it isn’t something they planned
either.

This doesn’t fit into their plans.

Generally when a major event happens in your state, you
make a show of support by visiting with people, maybe
standing up to help folks with emergency supplies.

You roll up your sleeves and show the people of your state
that you care what happens to them. Can he stop all the
problems by waving his hand? Of course not. It has to
do with optics, and showing your fellow state citizens
that everything is being done to help them, and that there
will be relief soon. It’s an important message to give.

I’m seeing a lot of people telling others that they would
have left the state to travel to resort rather than stick
it out with constituents.

I seriously doubt that. If you folks were a high official
of the state, and a U. S. Senator certainly is one, you
can’t just turn your back on people and expect to be given
a pass.

A U. S. Senator answers to the people of the state. They
selected him to represent them. When calamities take place
they expect some semblance of caring.

Ted is coming back from Cancun. He knows he blew it.

There is no way in hell I would blow off my state if
something like this took place and millions were in jeopardy,
and I think most people here would seen it that way also.

This is no different then evacuating from a hurricane. People need to pull their panties out of their crack and take a break.

“So Ted Cruz is not at fault here.”

Agree, broke no laws, for sure. But he just crashed what was left of his political career.
