An attorney who represented President Donald Trump during the recent impeachment trial says a law school canceled a civil rights law course he was going to teach and he was suspended from a civil rights lawyer email discussion list.
“I was hoping to teach a civil rights course at a law school in the fall. We’ve been in talks about it, kind of planning it out. I wrote to them and I said, ‘I want you to know, I’m gonna be representing Donald Trump in the impeachment case. I don’t know if that impacts on your decision at all,’” David Schoen, one of the three attorneys who argued before the Senate, told The Epoch Times.
“And they said, you know, they appreciated my writing and, frankly, it would make some students and faculty uncomfortable, so I couldn’t do it.
“That was sad for me because I really want to go more and more into teaching. I like doing that,” Schoen said.
Schoen, an Alabama-based lawyer recognized for his civil rights litigation, declined to name the school that canceled his course. He likewise declined to name the legal organization behind the email list that suspended him.
“They actually spent 48 hours discussing this with their board and so on. And they decided that they needed to suspend me from the list,” Schoen said. “It’s a very important one to me. It’s very prominent civil rights lawyers and fine people.”
Schoen delivered an impassioned argument on the first day of the trial for why the Senate didn’t have jurisdiction to try a former president. At the conclusion of his remarks, he appeared to be choking back tears as he read an 1849 poem by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow titled “The Building of the Ship.”

Attorney Michael van der Veen said vandals broke the windows in his home and defaced the house with graffiti. Van der Veen has had to move his children to a secret location and hire armed guards to protect his home and workplace.
Schoen said that he’s used to threats after decades of practicing civil rights law.

Embrace that arrow, man.
I can’t believe what this country has come to.
“An attorney who represented President Donald Trump during the recent impeachment trial says a law school canceled a civil rights law course he was going to teach...”
Our tax dollars.
This is some pre-genocidal activity. German Jews had their rights to make a living or participate in society stripped away. How long will they be happy to let us walk around in “their” world before they decide it would make more sense to just get rid of us?
Is their hatred going to just end one day when they’ve had enough?
This will end in civil war. A Balkans style one.
Universities in KS (including a law school) were controlled by radical feminists during the 1980s. Republican, self-described conservatives refused to listen to warnings about that, and you’re seeing the consequences now.
Have fun. Enjoy the slide.
He declined to name the school, and the publication evidently didn’t find that out, either. He’s based in Alabama. Some alums might want to include some choice words when they return the fundraising letters.
These “Schools’ need to be brought to heel...I hope he files a megasuit
Believe it. We’re in a communist purge. No two ways about it.
RE: Our tax dollars.
The problem is the law school is not named in the article, so we don’t know if it’s a private or state school.
This is terrible news. But it is also a sliver of good news. This is the sort thing that genuine movements are built around. This man is undergoing the trials our founding fathers went through.
“These “Schools’ need to be brought to heel.”
It would be interesting to get out the word to this school’s alumni association. See what they think.
My comments are meant for both attorneys.
United States of America is a Communist country. It was overthrown by traitors in both political parties.
If zchools are considered gov controlled (inthat schools can’t pray, can’t prostelize because they claim it is a gov rule that schools can’t do this) then it should be against the rule to discriminate based on political positions (public run businesses Is different)?
how does one get cancelled from a law school?
At some point, shouldn’t lawsuits start piling up on the desks of those doing the canceling?
At what point does taking adverse actions due to political expression become on par with demonstrating racism towards skin color, faith, etc.?
And what is to be expected of canceled persons effectively being an an animal trapped in a corner? They will fight, for their lives.
