Their approach to math education ought to be re-titled to The Remedial Math Teacher Full-Employment Primer. As a person who does a short course in technical math and precision measurement for a manufacturing client, I can assure you the client is strongly interested in everybody being able to arrive at the right answer so the product being manufactured is made correctly. Their workforce is highly diverse in origin and language so math is the universal language.
Why was there “racism” in math to start with?

6 divided by 2 equals 3

Someone explained it to me this way — the concept of a “right” answer is very white. 2 + 2 = 4? Is that important to you? You think it matters? You see, where I come from, no one cares about that stuff. That’s a white thing. I was brought up to know that 2 + 2 is whatever you want it to be. Now, don’t be a racist and tell me I’m wrong, because that’s just, like, your opinion, man.
