This is awful. He was already impeached. The next vote is to convict.

I could be wrong about the book involved, but I’m going from memory, and I believe it was William Shirer’s book The Rise and Fall of the 3rd Reich that detailed how the Nazi government had judges/courts that would rule in favor of Nazi policy involving anything. It was all ‘legal’, whatever they were doing in Germany. Because, the courts said so.

Lisa is quite the smug one. Seems confident Alaskans will re-elect her in two years. I think she considers herself an independent? Didn’t she win by running as a write in when she lost the primary?

BREAKING! BOMBSHELL! EXCLUSIVE! THERE’S A SALE AT PENNEY’S!

As reliable as the sun coming up in the east are these two things: Harbor Freight is having a sale and Mitt Romney is acting like a douche bag.

Scum of the earth.

They’re okay with Presidents violating the USC to declare/wage war, despite that being Congress’s power.

These 6 need to go.

March to D.C. And let the chips fall where they may! If we don’t fight for justice for president trump and family not only are we cowards but they will NEVER EVER Be FAIR!!

Unfortunately, the word has gone out that such behavior is horrible, traitorous, and just plain naughty. More than half the conservatives with a public following have conceded the point. Meanwhile the left is doing its best to convince everyone that another appearance in DC could lead to prosecution, cancellation, and having one's fingernails pulled out. There's barbed wire and fellows with guns all over Washington (or Tubman as they'll soon rename it). So yes we are cowards, plus a few people who can't assemble a quorum to stick up for the greatest President we've ever known.

Surely you can't be serious about movie quotes at a time like this.

Yep! I feel we are in the threshold of becoming a mirror image of Venezuela where a free people ruled their government and overnight their politicians pulled the rug underneath them! I feel so helpless and doomed! All I’m waiting for is for the SC to rule the US Constitution is UNCONSTITUTIONAL and this nation’s founding fathers be removed totally and completely from history and anything associated with them..next the hill will make a constitutional law to REMOVE ALL our beautiful D.C. Monuments. It will happen it’s coming and it won’t take a year...MARK IT!

Surprised at Cassidy.

Cassidy tells me that one point during the Trump team’s arguments he turned to Cruz and said, “Cruz, are they talking about the issue at hand?”
“And he goes, ‘Not now,’” Cassidy added “

What difference does the quality of the presentation make to the facts?

Didn’t watch any, but people seem disappointed with the lawyers’ presentation.

Let’s see, there are 7800 words in the Constitution and Bill of Rights. Inread those words a few times.

I see a few of Donald Trump’s rights being violated, but I can’t find where you can impeach and convict a private citizen.

Maybe I have the wrong copy?

I think the a trump legal team just over-argued the case. They weren’t going to change any votes and they droned on and on. In the words of Gilbert and Sullivan, their arguments were “ filled with words and music, signifying nothing.”

I frankly think they could have saved us a lot of time by just taking the approach of My Cousin Vinny and just got up and turned to to house managers and said, “everything these clowns have told you is Bullshit” and sat down.

Instead they actually made the Democrat case stronger by presenting endless cogent arguments against it.

It is all bullshit. They should treat it that way. Don’t give it the respect it doesn’t deserve.

Chuckie will need six more turds to fill the bowl and convict.

Actually, it's 2/3 of the members present. If the democrats can maneuver to vote in the dead of night, perhaps with GOP cooperation, they can convict with those 56 traitors plus 16 RINO no-shows at the vote.

Qilin,

Interesting take on things. Not sure I agree 100%, but I can see a scenario where a POTUS did something so entirely egregious in their waning hours, that impeachment and trial through verdict could be done, even if that person was out of office.

Like all things the Democrats try in their bloodlust for Trump, our kneejerk action is to reject it, out of hand. We know this particular trial is a farce. But, there could come a day ... and it could be a Democrat that crosses that line, far enough to warrant a real verdict.

I’m surprised at Cassidy.

Make sure you work to get him primaried out at re-election time.

This is why, at every turn, Trump's legal team has to frame the issues in ways that put the Senate on the record, voting over and over again to implicitly decide this same fundamental issue. So if and when the SCOTUS gets the issue, and rules in Trump's favor in this point - the campaign commercials just make themselves - just roll video of Blumenthal, Schumer, etc. saying they are defending the Constitution, when in the end it is shown they do not know what the Constitution is, or means.

The prosecution team from the House asked Donald Trump to testify, they did not subpoena him. Why? Because he could fight the subpoena all the way to the SCOTUS and get the definitive ruling that there is no jurisdiction in the Senate for the trial of a former President. So they do not want to open that door.

Since he will be acquitted there is nothing for him to take into Federal court.

Is it possible that the Senate Republicans could propose a subpoena of DJT - then you would have the Democrats voting against it... because they do not want to know what the SCOTUS thinks on this issue, they want to blindly proceed with this unconstitutional farce.

There are a couple of ways that the US Constitution can be amended, however I am pretty sure that a strict majority vote of the Senate is not among them.
