The Senate voted Tuesday to move ahead with the unprecedented impeachment trial of former President Trump after listening to hours of arguments on whether it is constitutional to try a president who is already out of office.
The vote was 56-44.
Trump's legal team said the trial is unconstitutional because he's no longer in office and can't face removal, which is the standard judgment of an impeachment conviction.

Since when does the Senate or Congress get to assume the Supreme Courts role in determining what’s constitutional? For example, they passed DOMA and it was signed into law only to be declared unconstitutional by SCOTUS. If the representatives have the ability to determine constitutionality, then no law passed should ever be questioned. Our nation is a joke.

What astounds me is these wackos have to know that what they are doing is leading people down a path to where they will eventually revolt. Is that what they want? Do they want riots 24 hours a day in every city? Do they want the military gunning down masses of citizens?
It’s like they do not care, they are moving high speed ahead to impose tyranny. Do they see what the population is of the USA? This isn’t some small European country with 5 million people this is country getting close to half a billion, and just tiny percentage of that is all it takes to bring absolute anarchy to every city in this country. Just striking truck drivers is enough to stop this country dead in its tracks, fuel, food, instantly stopped. Violence is not the only way to revolt.
Look how people riot just when a cop shoots someone black. How do they think they are going to react when people are jailed for speaking against the government? That’s where they are moving to. The Capital invasion was just a tiny tiny example and just that made Pelosi crap her pants. Does she REALLY want to incite something much worse?
