But with his personality and supporters—75 million Americans voted for him in 2020, the most votes a sitting president has ever gotten in history—fueling it, it could end up being successful.

He would, I think, do better by funding one that is already up and running. Less work, faster turn around.
President Trump should go old school - email chains.
Have a website where people can enter their email address and nothing more.
Instead of tweeting the President could send out mass emails.
Let other post them to social media and or forward to the user’s own email contact list.
Even big tech could not block all the emails.
Also - the President could set up a media room and have his press secretary give daily briefings - you know the media would cover it.
One thing all politicians do is opposition research. I say do opposition research but make it public. Sort of a wikipedia but highlight all elected officials in the country down to city councilmen. Shine a light on the corrupt and immoral regardless of party.
The perfect name for it would be Trumpet

I agree. It takes an enormous amount of work and money to get one up and running. Gab is meh and slow. Parler is supposed to be coming back online tomorrow. In the meantime he can just set up a website with short posts for others to propagate on Twitter and Facebook.

I’m willing to bet when you count the votes that were outright deleted, plus the votes that were switched to the pea-brained, dementia addled, little girl hair sniffing pedophile, Trump got upwards of 90,000,000 or more.
You don't really need social media, and they are planning mass executions.

Infrastructure would be the primary cost.
A CTO friend, myself and a third A list coder could have something running inside of a month on web and mobile if treated as a skunkworks style project. And it would be way prettier than gab. The tool sets are so easy now.
The biggest pain point would be hosting the backend outside of big tech. Even those patterns are well established. It is just that you don’t usually need to do them because of the clouds out there.
The other pain point is less technical. You need an infrastructure of people to moderate the platform. Yeah I get that some people want completely open. But you will get porn, pedophiles, and scumbags that do advocate violence. There needs to be some moderation. And, if you want to be on the app stores, you have to document it, unless you want to go through the courts on antitrust with the stores.
I personally want the stores monopoly power broken. But I don’t see it happening soon.

But how do you prevent someone making up a Trump comment ( fake news) in an email chain?
I would think Trump would want a way to verify his comments.
I have been promoting the idea of Trump billboards that mock Biden and the democrats. Put them in the 400 some counties that “voted” Biden. The enemy will have to walk past them every day. Big tech can’t shut down Low tech.
The Left hates nothing more than being mocked and ridiculed. Especially if their own words are used against them on those billboards. It was Ted Turner’s billboard company that spawned CNN.
BTW, I mention the recorded video because the Gab post the other day seems to have been from a fake.

That’s cool on one level. But if a goal is to get out information to people not in “the choir”, they’ll miss everything. Of course, for organizing purposes email would be really good!
