these folks aren’t in the same age range as Shelby.]


Most Democrats pols are lifelong government dependents. Many Republicans spent their careers in the private sector. Republican pols jump ship because they have better ways to spend their time. Many interrupted lucrative careers to enter government service.

Many Democrats are simply unemployable in the private sector except in specially-created sinecures. Unless you’re Barack Obama, filling one of these sinecures means constant ass-kissing. That’s not necessarily appealing to many Democrats, however lucrative it might be.

Well, it makes it hard for us to hold on to a majority.

We willingly toss seniority out the window, and yes it does
matter, because incumbents are re-elected most often. It’s
something like 80-90%.

Then we have a new guy going up against their new guy.

We lose seats we shouldn’t be losing.
