It’s not just Colorado. This happened to me—the IRS cashed a check in December but didn’t credit it until the beginning of this month.

I filed an amended return in April with a refund due. I have not received the money yet.

Hell, I filed and paid 2019 last March and have the return receipt and canceled checks to prove it. Still not showing as processed. Has screwed us out of part of last year’s and me the latest economic impact payments. (Ironically, my wife got the latest but not me...we filed jointly!) In addition, it was about to screw us out of a chunk of our social security in 2021 but through a mighty effort on my part and a functioning Social Security office that got fixed just in the nick of time.

I'm in Texas and I've had IRS issues the past several years. They told me in 2018/19 that I never filed my 2015 taxes. Sent in a copy of my 1040/SchedC, and a picture of my bank statement showing they cashed the check years before... They somehow rekajiggered my 2017 taxes in 2020 to claim I owed $300 for that year. Then they decided I overpaid $330 the year before in 2016, so I got a $30 refund check. Had issues with the stimulus refunds, IRS processing my taxes taking half a year, and another issue or two I don't remember exactly off the top of my head. It's really annoying. I think they still show a payment but no paperwork for 2014? or something, but the guy I talked to (at the IRS) said it's not an issue unless the IRS decides to do something, so don't worry about it...

And note they never give you an explanation for why they change it, they just send you a notice saying you owe more and here the interest/fees. No way to tell if their changes are correct or not, because I know my original filing should have been correct.
