The last time someone tried to corner the silver market it didn’t end that well.
I remember the Hunt Brothers trying to corner the market and other fools joining in, including a couple of guys in my college dorm that bought silver on margin. They lost everything they had and then some.
The brothers had no idea how much silver was going to come out of closets and cellars when prices reached ridiculous levels. My mom had peanut butter jars filled with silver dimes. They all got turned in at ridiculous prices.
Hunt wasmgreedy and started buying leveraged paper contracts.
Had he stuck with physical only he would have kept billions. Instead the Commodity Exchange changed the rules on him and he was forced to sell physical to pay for paper contract margin calls. More he sold the lower silver went and the more he had to cover until it was gone.
