"If you're Trump this is rather a no brainer," wrote Twitter user Janet Mullins Grisson, in regards to Trump representing himself.
"With Senate Rs aka the jury on the record that impeaching former president is unconstitutional why spend money on lawyers?"
The news of the legal shakeup online has garnered many similar responses, especially with the impeachment trial set to begin the week of February 8.

This what he should quote. Then declare the whole thing unconstitutional and tell them “see you all in front of the supreme court” and walk out.
Strike the first few words..
It is high time for me to put an end to your sitting in this place, which you have dishonored by your contempt of all virtue, and defiled by your practice of every vice; ye are a factious crew, and enemies to all good government; ye are a pack of mercenary wretches, and would like Esau sell your country for a mess of pottage, and like Judas betray your God for a few pieces of money.
Is there a single virtue now remaining amongst you? Is there one vice you do not possess? Ye have no more religion than my horse; gold is your God; which of you have not barter’d your conscience for bribes? Is there a man amongst you that has the least care for the good of the Commonwealth?
Ye sordid prostitutes have you not defil’d this sacred place, and turn’d the Lord’s temple into a den of thieves, by your immoral principles and wicked practices? Ye are grown intolerably odious to the whole nation; you were deputed here by the people to get grievances redress’d, are yourselves gone! So! Take away that shining bauble there, and lock up the doors.
“You can do whatever you want to me, but I’m not going to sit hear and listen to you badmouth The United States of America!”
I really wonder if Trump representing himself is such a good idea. Often times his choice of words, even though spot on, are deemed offensive. Plus a professional ambulance chaser should know the ins and outs of a good court fight a lot better than the defendant.
Regardless of what he does, I think it will be a win win in the eyes of the public. If he’s found guilty, he’s a martyr. And that will boost his popularity immensely.
If he’s found innocent, just airing out publicly the voter fraud will educate those totally bamboozeled by the MSM.
Well yes he did.
And they all keep saying it’s been proven....which nobody proved any such thing.
But if you think he wants to keep the stolen election in front of everybody.....well let me think about it.
I do think SOMETHING should be done about the stolen election.
Oliver Cromwell, dismissing the Rump Parliament in 1653.
There is no written version of his speech, it has been reconstructed from the recollections of many who heard it.
Here’s a longer version:
“It is high time for me to put an end to your sitting in this place, which you have dishonored by your contempt of all virtue, and defiled by your practice of every vice; ye are a factious crew, and enemies to all good government; ye are a pack of mercenary wretches, and would like Esau sell your country for a mess of pottage, and like Judas betray your God for a few pieces of money.
In the name of God, go!”
He who represents himself, has a fool for a client.
Not sure which way is correct, but I like this version better.
I think it’s the original, but I could be wrong.
If they can schedule it between 10 am & 1 pm Eastern time, he could have Rush lay it all out during his regular broadcast.
Rudy’s losing it. He was a force to reckon with in his day but he really needs to retire.
“ The Reimpeachment Trial is NOT the place to hash out the election irregularities”
It’s the last chance for the fraud evidence to be heard. It’s now or never
He should have representation. The low rent jackasses in charge of this farce are not going to allow him to be heard. I’m expecting a soviet style show trial.
Yes he has to be convicted first and then a second vote on the punishment which would be preventing him from running again for office. They don’t have to votes to convict him anyway and even if they did it will be a Bill of attainder since he is a private citizen; I don’t think even the likes of Justice Roberts would go down that hole when it comes up to the Supreme Court.
He gets too emotional. This is very concerning if it is true. He’s too smart to do that. I hope he has someone he trusts who will give him some sage advice.
I think the Supreme Court will find a way to not hear the case.
A couple off the top of my head:
1. “The Senate shall have the sole Power to try all Impeachments.” Key word here being “sole”.
2. Declare it to be a “political question” - not a legal question.
The Demoncrats will define “insurrection” as any opposition to them. This must be squashed or we Patriots will be doomed...
So disgusting; then why do people in VT feel they can’t live without him?
Trump will not appear in any Sinate trial.
Consider that his current whereabouts are unknown to the black hats. *IF* he was really at Mara Lago, there would be an FAA TFR there (See my FR name, I'm aware of pending and current TFRs in the US). The pic the other day with McCarthy is not evidence of any sort to the contrary.
Trump currently is under the protection of the DOD, probably kept very safe in an underground bunker/SCIF. Any appearance in the Sinate would be giving the bad guys his location. Not gonna happen. And certainly shouldn't to give any legitimization to the faux trial.
Roberts did not decline to preside; he has not jurisdiction as Trump is not president. Roberts only presides over the president. Dershowitz said that.
