I want one that will go 400 miles on a charge and recharge in 15 minutes while I take a pee and buy a soft drink.

I worked with a salesman who bought a 2nd hand EV because he put so many miles on a vehicle he figured it would pay for itself very quickly. All was good for about a year when he discovered he had to replace almost $4000.00 in batteries. He traded it in as quick as he could.

I’ve tried to ask people how much new batteries cost and I usually get a vague answer like, “They’re not too bad”. Hell, $4000 is the cost of a new engine or transmission.

I think most of the electric cars have a gasoline engine backup, you know, in case you want to go somewhere.

I wonder how many people just use their gasoline engine after the batteries fail and keep the $4000. And I wonder if they take out and discard the big ole heavy nonfunctioning batteries that would cost $4000 to replace. And there’s probably a $500 disposal fee too.
