“The people of Texas are sick and tired of living under 180,000 pages of federal laws administered by 2.5 million unelected bureaucrats,” said Miller.

That can be paraphrased as:

He has erected a multitude of New Offices, and sent hither swarms of Officers to harrass our people, and eat out their substance.

Now where did I read that before?

I wonder if they’ll have to change the amusement park to 7 Flags over Texas or if they’ll just revert back to the 4th flag and leave it as is?

I’d vote for it, just to put some real fear in the Feral Monster.

Texas would probably take the mid-west up to the Canadian Border with them.

So the Texas legislature might vote on a bill that if passed by both branches and signed by the Governor would enable a referendum vote that tells the legislature to consider secession.

Sounds like a lengthy process.

I turned down an opportunity to take a new position with my company in Texas. I’m starting to rethink it.

“ the Texas Legislature should create a joint interim committee to create a plan for independence for the state.”

Sounds like a lot of bureaucracy to divest Texas from bureaucracy.

The liberal moronic asshats and their ilk in DC want to kill fossil fuels? I’m quite sure Oklahoma, Louisiana and Texas can help em out with that.

Sometimes you just need to DO IT. Lead Texas, and the remaining Freedom-lovers will follow.

Either we will be a Constitutional Republic, or not.

Man I hope this passes.

Outstanding.

Texas is the only state in the US with an independent power grid. They have the 1st and 4th Armored Divisions there too.

Now the fight is to get a majority of the Texas Legislators to ALLOW Texans to vote for secession.

That’s gonna be the roadblock.

They’re scared to just put it on the ballot.

I’d vote aye to secede but I ain’t gonna be allowed to express my opinion in a state referendum.

Texas and enjoining states, and there will more of them, should then refer to the present federal government as the government of the so called United States.

I vote ‘aye’.

Next, oath of loyalty to Texas, with deportation as punishment of oath breaking.

Little problem with secession...Texas vs White (1869).

Texas v. White, (1869), U.S. Supreme Court case in which it was held that the United States is “an indestructible union” from which no state can secede.”

They sure are setting up the debate in the proper manner. Let Texans debate it for themselves.

I favor extending the right to secede on a county by county basis.

The invitation could even be extended to counties in Mexico and Canada, since we are starting a new country.

Let there be a referendum within each countyfor the next 4 or 5 decades, let each county decide for itself and let the boundaries solidify. Dual citizenship for both sides for those 5 decades.

There are already sovereign nation enclaves within the borders of the US, they are called Indian Reservations.

Many states need to do the same. The hold a state by state union under, idk, call it a constitutional form of government. Maybe have something in there about states rights.
