The biggest problem is the fact that politicians go to DC once they are elected, and are then put under a lot of pressure to conform.

They are basically succumbing to the Stockholm Syndrome. This is a phenomenon documented decades ago in which hostages who are subjected to harsh treatment by their captors adopt their captors values and goals as a means of survival. Not everyone put into a hostile environment succumbs. But I think this is the reason why many people who were elected on solid conservative platforms end up advancing socialism lite instead of standing up for the American values they originally espoused.

If we would keep politicians home, in their districts among those who elected them, we would have a chance to protect them from Stockholm Syndrome. There is no reason they must be physically present in DC.

I went to an organizational meeting for this party last Saturday.

I urge you to go to their site and read their platform for yourself before you get involved. I don’t care for their stand on social issues or the fact that they think Dreamers should become American citizens.

Also there are at least 2 other parties with the word “freedom” in their names...and the other 2 are extremely liberal. This would confuse voters searching for info online.

I was in favor of a third party and got involved in the Reform Party when Pat Buchanan was its presidential candidate also helped try to get the Constitution Party up and running.

Third parties don’t have much luck. The ONLY way this party will be successful is if Trump runs at the top of their ticket.

I will vote for Trump whatever party he aligns with.

Then why is it that so many go to DC, and DON’T become victims of your purported ‘Stockholm Syndrome’?

And do you think that the lure of money and power stops at the borders of DC?

I can think of a few in DC that I’d very much like to see as President, Jordan and Nunes topping the list.

Freedom Party implies Libertarian which hasn't fared so well thus far.

I actually had a serious face as I typed it.

How we present ourselves here matters. This medium is an entirely new means of communication and, in a way, represents a new ‘language’. We have to be aware of that and learn to use it expediently, if we really want to influence people instead of just flaunt ourselves and our ‘feeeeelings’.

(Go back and examine the ways in which the Founders expressed themselves. They never simply ‘emoted’. They were thoughtful.)

We should form a national forum/group of true leaders that will vet various candidates and office holders and then back them with funding and publicity. A person like Donald Trump, or his son could be the leader.

Donations? Of course, if you approve of candidates after vetted.
Possible names for this vetting group? Unique/catching name?
Trump Taskforce? Reagan Republicans?

Now put yourself at the top to choose those that need to be vetted, similar to Supreme Court candidates. Who would you choose? Gather all the information on all of them and maybe private investigators to help. Just NO GOP help, please.

People around the country, even local city politicians can be vetted. Get rid of RINOS! Present names of rinos to be defeated?(Linda Graham,etc). MAYBE soon a person passing the tough conservatives’ vetting will be a badge of honor with 80 million people on our side.

EVEN a number of suggestions from this FreeRepublic forum. After all, we are everywhere.

Now that is an outright lie. They had brutal, public arguments, killed one another in duels, and started a shooting war with the British Empire. They were not effete GOP cowards who speak like prudish little old ladies. From the newspapers of the time founded by the political parties:

John Adams was called a "hideous hermaphroditical character, which has neither the force and firmness of a man, nor the gentleness and sensibility of a woman." He was called a fool, a hypocrite and a tyrant.

Jefferson was called "a mean-spirited, low-lived fellow, the son of a half-breed Indian squaw, sired by a Virginia mulatto father." He was also called a weakling, an atheist and a libertine.

The rhetoric got so heated that in February 1798, two congressman got physical.

"There was a congressman from Connecticut — Roger Griswold — and he was one of the Federalists, and there was congressman from Vermont, named Matthew Lyon, who represented the Democratic-Republicans," Daniels said. "And they were polar opposites in terms of political views. And one day, it just boiled over."

Daniels said Griswold insulted Lyon. In return, Lyon spit in Griswold's face.

But it took two days for things to really escalate.

"Griswold came into the House and started to beat on Lyon with a wooden cane," Daniels said. "Lyon ran to the fireplace and grabbed a pair of tongs from the fireplace. And they actually dueled on the floor of the House with a walking stick and a pair of fireplace tongs."

Daniels stresses that these fights weren't a regular occurence. Brookhiser also says that duels were not uncommon.

Hamilton had been part of at least 10 duels over that 10-year period and was killed in the last one by William Burr.

After you read it, you will see that WE are the Republican Party because we believe and support that platform.

Bush McConnell, Cheney and Romney do not.

We were discussing written language over the Internet - where people are anonymous, can’t see one another, and are judged simply by their writing.

We weren’t discussing in-person fisticuffs - and I don’t see a lot of capital letters in the quotes you reference, either (as eloquent - relative to the writing we see today - as they were.)

It has been my intention to register as a “blue dog Democrat”. I think I can do more for conservatism from inside the Democrat Party than I can from the outside, and I can also advocate policies that cause internal rifts (such as confiscating the fortunes of some of our fav meddling billionaries).
