Defying Democrats, Feinstein calls Hawley and Cruz's crusade against election results 'important'
San Francisco Chronicle ^ | Joshua Bott

Sen. Dianne Feinstein, D-Calif., months after drawing flak from Democratic politicians and pundits alike for her conduct during Supreme Court Justice Amy Coney Barrett's confirmation hearing, has once again opened herself up to attacks from her party after defending the Republican lawmakers who objected to certifying the results of the 2020 election.

While other members of her party have explicitly called for Sens. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, and Josh Hawley, R-Miss., to resign following their helming of a campaign to de-legitimize President-elect Joe Biden's victory, Feinstein called their attack "a kind of leadership."

Per the San Francisco Chronicle, Feinstein told the press pool at the Capitol: "I think the Senate is a place of freedom. And people come here to speak their piece, and they do, and they provide a kind of leadership. In some cases, it’s positive, in some cases, maybe not. A lot of that depends on who’s looking and what party they are.

"But it’s an important place to have this kind of dialogue," she added. "It’s probably the highest-level dialogue that you get in an electoral body.”

She actually had occasional moments of sanity and was a pretty good mayor of San Francisco (actually, the last decent one). Maybe the brain cells revved up again.

She must be ready for retirement, because she won’t be re-elected ever again.

Feinstein is one of those Senators who has occasional days of common sense that gets your hopes up, only to revert back later. Here is one another one of those moments. It won’t last.

I wouldn't count on that.

The reality is, that he person who replaces her will be farther to the left, and worse.

I too was in CA before she became senator... Knew of her from her taking over as Mayor after the Dan White killing of Mayor Moscone and fellow SF City Council member Harvey Milk. I have had nothing but contempt for her since the Desert Protection Act.

I believe she has already announced that she’s done after this term. Expect a few of the older dems to start trying to sound wise and reasonable and s-—t to give some cover to the real messed up crap they are going to give to their party’s nuts...

Feinstein doing better than McConnell as far as defending the truth.

Her 1985 news conference publicizing previously unrevealed evidence connecting the “Night Stalker” serial killer to various unsolved murders wasn’t one of them:

This seems an alliance of survival as the Dems have been trying to push her out too.

Most Senators are Senators first, and Democrat or Republican secondly.

Unbelievably enough, she already filed her paperwork for a reelection run in 2024 when she’ll be 91 I think. It was just in the headlines within the last couple of weeks.

“Most Senators are Senators first, and Democrat or Republican secondly.”

I think several of the old guard Democrats realize that the party has gone off the rails. Obama was a disaster. Biden will be an even bigger disaster. I read and later listened to Tulsi Gabbard talking recently about what the Democrats were doing. She could have been mistaken for a Republican.
I think that she, and, perhaps Feinstein, are trying to bring the party back to some rational middle ground. Obama helped the Democrats lose some 1500 lower level offices. Assuming we don’t end up in a full-out 1917 style revolution with Bolsheviks and Mensheviks, then the Republican advantage in state offices may even increase in ‘22. It seems that Feinstein and Gabbard are trying to prevent that. (They are urinating into a gale.)

Wouldn't it be good for this country if demented Biden would would drift back into sanity and help out this country.

But I don't think that will happen, because Biden never ,IMHO, had putting America first on his selfish agenda. -Tom

Maybe it’s a unique form of dementia in which she has lost the function of the prevarication center of her brain. That portion of the brain has been shown to be enlarged in Democrat politicians.

That’s why I am going to focus on local politics for the next few years. “All politics is local” is quite true- my local city council and board of supervisors has a lot more impact on my life than who is President.

One year at a National Conference Of Mayors in our city, I was her “chauffeur” between events a few times. (The place I worked asked for volunteers.) She was very nice, actually.
