State school standards banish lessons about World War I, II, Holocaust, Civil War New priorities include 'awareness' of LGBTA+ community, 'systemic racism'

New standards proposed by the Minnesota Department of Education would banish lessons about World War I, World War II, the Holocaust, the Civil War, the American Revolution, communism, George Washington and Thomas Jefferson.

Replacing those significant history topics will be "systemic racism," how democracy has "excluded certain groups," an "awareness" of "the LGBTQ+ community" and how the disenfranchisement of freed blacks during Reconstruction connects to "persistent discrimination and inequity" today.

John Hinderaker at the Powerline blog explained that under Minnesota law, the state's Department of Education establishes standards for K-12 public schools in a number of categories.

"The benchmarks for each category are revised by committee every 10 years," he wrote. "This year, the Social Studies standard is being revised. The committee undertaking the revision, as you would expect in the Tim Walz administration, is hard left.

He said the first draft was "shocking" and thousands of comments from citizens expressing concern have been dismissed out of hand.

The new standards call for students to describe "the tactics used by the United States government to claim indigenous and Mexican land, including but not limited to an analysis of the ideology of Manifest Destiny and its relationship to whiteness, Christianity, and capitalism; and analyze the strategies used by Native Americans and Mexicans to respond to U.S. settler colonialism."

LOL! Me too. Think back to your/my/our glory days. In hindsight, I can see the dawning of this garbage slowly creeping in even in the mid 60’s. Obviously not as blatant as now but the beginnings.

Relatives put their kids in private school because the public school wasn’t teaching history prior to Clinton. This was in TX.

They took control of the children, through schools, first. Then the media who were once those children. The rest is easy.

Gonna be interesting to see how they explain away the cemeteries full of men and women who died in the conflicts the dems seek to erase from our history.

“They took control of the media first.”

And why did we let them and why aren’t we taking it back?

We way outnumber them.

The real reason is they are a hundred fold more WILLING to protect and advance their agenda than we are ours.

It all comes down to “will”. Things still haven’t gotten bad enough for us to wake us up from our slumber and off our asses. When we finally do it may be too late

You see, those things aren’t the history of today’s America. They are the history of a country that is no more.

The problem is SAT tests and other college admissions tests will have this “new” material on them. The whole effort s to undermine history and how dominant America was a a force for good!

I am reading a great book that explains this whole thing. The book is “Don’t Live by lies”. We are way down the road to soft totalitarian rule.

I suspect the following quote summarizes some of that book:

Political correctness is communist propaganda writ small. In my study of communist societies, I came to the conclusion that the purpose of communist propaganda was not to persuade or convince, nor to inform, but to humiliate; and therefore, the less it corresponded to reality the better. When people are forced to remain silent when they are being told the most obvious lies, or even worse when they are forced to repeat the lies themselves, they lose once and for all their sense of probity. To assent to obvious lies is to co-operate with evil, and in some small way to become evil oneself. One’s standing to resist anything is thus eroded, and even destroyed. A society of emasculated liars is easy to control. I think if you examine political correctness, it has the same effect and is intended to.

It also leads to, “if you can’t say it, eventually you won’t think it.”

We’re now seeing the results of what’s becoming Orwell’s “Thought Crime.”

If you don’t think that Google experiments with “social media score” in China, where people who don’t tow the line lose their jobs and homes, even winding up in re-education camps, will be coming to the United States, and I believe that the existing regime will turn the USA into a totalitarian state by USING corporations, like employers and banks (much like Obama tried to do with “Operation Choke Point,) to do the dirty work.

The leftists should be required to name all the countries and territories that were not settled by colonization, folks moving in from somewhere else on Earth....There were not “official” governed countries at one time and people just moved to where there was space and a potential food supply....worked for thousands of years.
