Liz Cheney foes plot removal from GOP leadership after impeachment vote
NY Post ^ | January 16, 2021 | Jon Levine

Some Republicans are looking to stage an internal coup using a playbook employed during an attempted ouster of then-Speaker Newt Gingrich in 1997.

“We’ve researched the rules thoroughly and there has been a lot of discussion on how to handle this,” Montana Rep. Matt Rosendale told Newsmax. Cheney ”is out of step with the conference in such a monumental way.”

Rosendale was the first House Republican to call for Cheney’s removal as the House Republican Conference chair after her renegade vote.

Under current GOP caucus rules, any member can trigger a request for a panel to consider whether a member is fit to remain in their post. As conference chair, however, Cheney would be entitled to select panel members and stock it with her allies.

GOP insurgents say that they would counter this move by invoking rule 6(d), allowing the full Republican conference to weigh in in an up or down vote if they get 50 signatures.

My mistake. But Either way. She’s served 2 terms how the hell is she in a leadership role?

She doesn’t deserve to be there but is because of who her dad is..

Agree. I have a few friends still living in Wyoming. From Cody, down to the Wind River AO, and down to the Green River- I like the state. Flaming Gorge is quite a sight. I never understood why any one voted for her.

It’s a shame that’s too long to print on a pillow.

Liz has worse worries than leadership removal.

“””Or hostile.”””

I agree that ending my statement with ‘hostile’ would be appropriate.

I am glad to see the Conservative base in the House challenging Liz Cheney.

This is the moment for the House Republicans to show the Republican voters that they are not going to allow traitorous leaders in the House.

On the other hand if the House does vote to keep Liz Cheney in her leadership position, it sends a strong signal to the voters that the Republican Party has left them.

Coup? We live in the era where words matter and the definitions increasingly do not match with the actual word and reality.

Good ! Cheney and McCarthy should be dumped. Jim Jordan should replace Mc Carthy. He’d make life miserable for Pelosi.

McCarthy and Ryan put her there. One is gone, the other must go too.

And the Freedom Caucus members should become the ranking member of the committees.

That damage is already done. They can piss up a rope. Kep her, dump her, all the same to me. The players have taken their positions already. This should not be a tough call. The GOP left me.

We’re about to see a perfect example of why we should abandon the GOPee. If you think for one second these gutless wonders will do anything to Cheney, you’re sadly mistaken. They will talk and talk and talk some more, but in the end nothing will happen to her.

>> I never understood why any one voted for her. <<

She only got 39% of the votes in the GOP primary for the open house seat (35,000 votes out of 88,000 GOP ballots cast). So she eeked in with a mediocre plurality. Probably the vast majority of her votes were because of "name ID" and fond memories of her daddy, and some big name nationally syndicated conservative talk radio show hosts (Limbaugh, Levin, etc.) talking her up and telling GOP voters what a wonderful fightin' "Tea Party" patriot she would be.

As I've noted, I was vehemently against her candidacy for both the House and Senate, but I never expected her to be THIS bad. She's become a RINO A-lister.

The GOP has a simple choice; Liz Cheney or President Trump supporters. We’ll see who they go with.

I’ve resisted dumping the republican party but this year’s campaign, election and aftermath is more than I can be associated with.
The republican party is beyond Viagra help. Limp.
There are a few bright spots, too few to matter.

True. These Cheney, Romney, and McCain pukes are trash.
McCain dumped his wife who waited years for him. He is trash. McCain would have flunked out if not for his last name. Ask any Veteran of Vietnam about Cam Rhan Bay? If John Kerry ran into VC there I wonder why most water skied or sun bathed on the beach. It was an in country R&R area.

We have to find real conservatives and no more of these get all the cash you can punks. Cheney is nothing without the last name.
