Washington D.C. is being locked down as a staggering number of military troops and law enforcement personnel are stationed throughout the city in the week leading up to the next Presidential Inauguration on Wednesday, January 20th. At last count, the number of military troops had ballooned up to 26,000, which is quite an impressive show of force. And the number of troops in the city might climb even higher by the time the next President takes the oath of office.
The media seems to believe the Mayor of D.C. or Democrats in the government are the ones flooding the streets of Washington with what amounts to well over 2 brigades of troops, many of whom are armed and able to use lethal force. They’re wrong. Washington Mayor Muriel Bowser publicly released a letter on January 5 when the number of troops and federal units deployed to the nation’s capital was much smaller than it is now.
How are we protecting the Constitution by disbanding Congress and the courts and ignoring any article that may be inconvenient?
They are state controlled until they enter D.C., no?
Maybe it is POTUS bringing them in in anticipation of Durham’s mass arrests in the next few days so as to quell any uprising from the left. (wishful thinking, of course)
I’ve heard several news stories about how such and such a governor is “ordering” or “sending” troops to DC. I know governors can order troops around in their own state, but I doubt they can send troops to another state, or to DC, strictly on their own authority.
I think these orders have to be coming from President Trump and the Pentagon, who would be ordering the states to send NG troops to DC.
Look I understand that a lot of freepers and apparently you also are fearful of the kind of action it will take to rid ourselves of the communist cabal that has taken over. Its easier to attack me than recognize that we have been outside the constitution for years. So when this goes down and it most certainly will its going to be frightening for you. I already have my head around it and have accepted it. I’m not fearful of the US military. They are going to deliver us from evil. In a couple of months we will all be very happy.
I, and a lot of Freepers, find the idea of a right wing dictatorship as distasteful as a left wing one would be.
Its easier to attack me than recognize that we have been outside the constitution for years.
Please don't mistake disagreement for attacks. I do disagree with you, completely. But it was never my intent for you to take it as a personal attack. If you did then I apologize.
Its easier to attack me than recognize that we have been outside the constitution for years.
We can debate on how accurate that is, but I submit that throwing the Constitution away completely is not the answer.
So when this goes down and it most certainly will its going to be frightening for you.
Yes, well we'll see about that in about four days won't we?
I’m not fearful of the US military. They are going to deliver us from evil. In a couple of months we will all be very happy.
And that is where naivety kicks in, the idea that this solution will last only a few months. Martial law would be for years. You cannot rule by fiat with Congress in the way, so that has to be done away with. You cannot jail people on site without trial with the courts in the way, so those have to be done away with. You cannot have a re-do of the election without any basis in the Constitution and then immediately turn things back over to Congress and the Courts because virtually everything you do will be ruled unconstitutional and any President in office will be impeached and removed. You want the military to run things then it's going to take years before people will be compliant enough to trust with a new Congress and a judiciary that won't undo what you did.
When guard troops are sent to another state, the governor of the host state is the highest authority.
DC does not have a governor, but a mayor. Plus this mayor has limited authority over DC guard only.
Thus, though other states sent the guard to DC for political reasons...it seems that the Secretary of Defense/President would be the high authority.
But I might be wrong.
That’s the way I figured it. Some here are saying that the libs would be screaming bloody murder if DJT controlled the troops. Maybe their interest in seeing that there isn’t another “right-wing insurrection” outweighs their fear that DJT will remain, with an occupying force to put down protests that would subsequently occur. Who can tell what goes on in their minds?
