Democrats' Main Impeachment Goal: To Keep Trump from Running for Office Ever Again

President Donald J. Trump officially became the first US president to be impeached twice by the House of Representatives on Wednesday, paving the way for a Senate trial that could come after his term ends.

Lawmakers who have been in favor of impeaching Trump just days before he leaves the White House argue the goal is not just to remove him from office, but also to prevent him from ever becoming president again.

"He must go," argued House Speaker Nancy Pelosi on Wednesday. "He is a clear and present danger to the nation that we all love."

The single article of impeachment charges President Trump with engaging "in high crimes and misdemeanors by inciting violence against the government of the United States."

"We know we experienced the insurrection that violated the sanctity of the people's Capitol, and attempted to overturn the duly recorded will of the American people. And we know that the President of the United States incited this insurrection, this armed rebellion against our common country," Pelosi claimed.

The impeachment vote took place as National Guard troops protected the Capitol and the House Chamber.

Ten Republicans joined every House Democrat voting in favor of impeachment, while the majority of House Republicans argued impeaching Trump would only add fuel to the fire.

"A vote to impeach would further divide this nation," said House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA). "A vote to impeach will further fan the flames of partisan division."

McCarthy believes the president should have been censured for his role in the Capitol attack, not impeached. "The president bears responsibility for Wednesday's attack on Congress by mob rioters," continued McCarthy. "He should have immediately denounced the mob when he saw what was unfolding."

Republican Congresswoman Nancy Mace (R-SC) says both sides share in the blame for the unrest around the country.

"Republicans and Democrats need to acknowledge this is not the first day of violence we've seen. We've seen violence across our country for the last nine months," said Mace. "And we need to recognize, number one our words have consequences, that there is violence on both sides of the aisle, we've contributed to it, we need to take responsibility for our words and our actions, we need to acknowledge there is a problem, take responsibility for it and stop being part of the problem and start being part of the solution."

Following the historic vote on impeachment, Trump issued a video calling for no violence, vandalism, or lawbreaking as he prepares to leave office.

"Now, I am asking everyone who has ever believed in our agenda, to be thinking of ways to ease tensions, calm tempers, and help to promote peace in our country," said Trump in the video.

President-elect Joe Biden released a statement saying he hopes that "Senate leadership will find a way to deal with their constitutional responsibilities on impeachment while also working on the other urgent business of this nation."

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell will not reconvene the Senate until January 19th, ensuring a Senate impeachment trial would not begin until the first weeks of Biden's presidency.

1. Disqualify President Trump form making a comeback in 2024.
2. Tie him up to prevent him from releasing information about their criminal corruption or pardoning anyone (such as Assange) who may have information about it.
3. As you said, warn any other outsider that this will happen to you if you dare run for office.
4. Keep any members of the Trump family from running for office.
5. Provide an excuse to criminalize conservative speech.

I'll state it again.

Nancy Pelosi and the democRATS are impeaching President Trump with less than a week left in office not because of something he said on Jan. 6th or because he poses a danger to democracy or to keep him from ever holding office again, though that would be an added benefit to them.

They tried to get Pence to invoke the 25th Amendment but he declined. That would not have prevented Trump from serving again, if it had been used. So that was a tell regarding their true reason.

They are trying to rapidly impeach him without any hearings or evidence or proof of having said or done anything wrong because they know Trump can expose the crimes they have committed and he has hard proof.

There is no other explanation why they want him out of power so fast, as in yesterday, but to prevent him from revealing their crimes to the American public and being under threat of indictment and/or prison.

I still can't imagine President Trump just walking away from the ongoing crimes the democRATS have committed against him over his first term by trying to accuse him of Russian collusion, impeaching him for a mere phone call to Ukraine or blatantly stealing a clearly won second term victory from him in the recent election.

He's got all the proof he needs to indict or arrest these crooks for their crimes against the country, to be tried by military tribunals, and to send most of them to prison where they can't do any more damage against the US for the foreseeable future.

He's got the opportunity now, when they least expect it. I hope he does something in the next week that will blow this whole Deep State commie cabal right open.

Dude, everything about the deep state is very true.

But you have to add in the obamian agenda for a topping in the death to America plot.

Hillary was supposed to win to flip America into a marxist muslim global agenda.
HAD she won we would have already been cooked.

BUT it didn’t happen due to one man, a man with a cause.

IDK. But if convicted I think he loses secret service protection. That would be bad.

Ideology aside, I consider Biden too old for the job at 78. In 4 years, Trump will be 78 and I will consider him too old for the job as well.

That entirely depends on the person. Although only four years younger than Biden, Trump seems 20 years younger in terms of mental acuity and vitality.

That’s a big reason we did well in 2018. The Democrats overplayed their hand. And now they have a Chinese puppet coming to the White House, so they’ll overplay it even more this time.

This is why the first priority is impeaching and removing President Trump and removing forums for conservative speech. they know what happened when they’ve overplayed their hand in the past, so they want to start by rigging the system to prevent it from happening to them again.

Bill Clinton is also impeached for life.

In a sane world, future textbooks will cite the two impeachments of Donald Trump as evidence of extreme partisanship by the Democratic Party. Instead, no doubt, they will just cite them as showing how horrible he was.

I'm wondering what tack Biden will take in his inaugural address. Will it be meaningless platitudes and fuzzy statements about how much better things are about to become, or will it be nasty partisan rhetoric, saying that Trump tried to steal the election, incited insurrection, won the first time only because of Russian collusion, called neo-Nazis "very fine people," caused hundreds of thousands to die by mismanaging the corona virus, supported white supremacy and Islamophobia, etc., etc.? For good measure he could blast the Republicans for failing to vote to remove Trump a year ago.

Trump should run for Senator of Pennsylvania after that putz Robert Toomey retires in 2022. I bet he would win in a landslide.

I have no problem imagining Nanzi Pelosi, at Biden’s fake inauguration, of screamingly demanding that the military open fire on whatever/whomever may show up at the capitol for the event because she fears a revolution. I do expect Antifa to show up pretending to be Pro-Trump supporters. And for them to start a riot, or to try to start one.

If the Senate were to convict, they could vote to impose the additional penalty of disqualification from Federal office.

But it remains to be seen whether that's legal after someone has left office.

He can afford to hire the best private security people available. Would they be as good as the Secret Service? Unlikely. Pelosi and the rest of the scumbags would love to see him dead.

Are those awful video poker machines still around? Our wonderful South Carolina State government did away with them long ago and replaced them with the wonderful state “education” lottery which has done wonders to make education more expensive than ever and impoverish huge numbers of people who used to never see a poker machine but now are able to lose all their money quickly and easily at any convenience store.

Isn’t progress amazing? Even many who have no vehicle or driver’s license can now lose their money within a short walk of home rather than having to try to get to a truck stop or bar. We have made it far more convenient and less expensive to throw money down a rat hole.

Why do so many people believe there will be any more elections??

Starting January 20, we will be a Communist dictatorship.

No more “real” elections. Dominion will choose your dictators.

The naïveté of some people is frightening.

It’s all a form of exile they desperately want like Moses being exiled from Egypt

Let the name of Moses(think TRUMP) be stricken from every book and tablet, stricken from all pylons and obelisks, stricken from every monument of Egypt. Let the name of Moses be unheard and unspoken, erased from the memory of men for all time.

Wrong, TidePod! I guarantee you that there will still be elections. The question of whether they will be legitimate is an entirely separate issue.

God, I would love to slap this bitch across her mouth.

Hi. Hope you are doing well.

“Wasn’t Alcee Hastings impeached, removed, and then got elected again?”

He was a federal judge who got impeached and convicted in the Senate. (Bribary by the mob).

He was not barred from running for elected office.
