Is the Insurrection Act a component of Martial Law? Is it separate from?

Martial Law existed long before the Insurrection Act of 1807. IIRC, it was first used in the U.S. at the Battle of New Orleans, during the War of 1812 with the British. However, martial law is not unique to the United States, and has a long history in other nations.
