The open-source android platform blows chunks. Basically nothing from the Play Store will work without the required Google extensions.

It’s what the Chicoms were forced to do. And they have thousands of coders to rewrite the phone OS.

When they banned Alex Jones info wars app, they simply offered one on the website you could download to the screen on your phone like any other normal app.
Banned.video.com and it works just fine. You just can’t get it at the apple store.

Parler should do the same.

It is possible to access Parler from a browser. Apps are just a convenience from a time when smartphone processors were underpowered. Apps run faster because they don’t have the unnecessary baggage of a full-sized browser. But today’s phone chips have power to spare. I can run my brokerage’s desktop webpage from my cheap non-Apple tablet at an acceptable speed. I doubt a mere social network web page would be crippled by experiencing it from a browser on recent model iPhones and iPads.

Most browser-based apps blow chunks. Extremely piss-poor UX and UI, for one. No local data storage or caching. Requires cookies and ad blockers to function at all.

Sunday (tomorrow) at midnight Amazon will be shutting off all of our servers in an attempt to completely remove free speech off the internet. There is the possibility Parler will be unavailable on the internet for up to a week as we rebuild from scratch. We prepared for events like this by never relying on amazons proprietary infrastructure and building bare metal products.

We will try our best to move to a new provider right now as we have many competing for our business, however Amazon, Google and Apple purposefully did this as a coordinated effort knowing our options would be limited and knowing this would inflict the most damage right as President Trump was banned from the tech companies.

This was a coordinated attack by the tech giants to kill competition in the market place. We were too successful too fast. You can expect the war on competition and free speech to continue, but don’t count us out.

Seems Amazon (AWS) is shutting them down.

Although I had a Samsung Galaxy since S7 (S8, S9, S10), input is still garbage compared to the Apple keyboard under iOS. Even with the plethora of keyboard add-ins/ plug-ins available, android is still garbage. Wish they would fix it.

That’s because they spend most of their development dollars on apps. Without apps as an option, they’ll be forced to spend their money on improving the browser experience on mobile devices. And that experience will improve.
