Yes, Southern Baptist Churches are independent entities.
But these Independent Southern Baptist Churches are the ones sending money to employ the big mouthed fools who are the leaders of the Southern Baptist Convention.
Note: The SBC “leadership” has no authority to speak for anyone but themselves personally. I’m no longer a member of a SBC church. That is based on where I’ve moved and the churches available within 50 miles. But the “leadership” have no power, no authority and do almost nothing - which is why, when I WAS still a member of an SBC church, I quietly (but ineffectively) argued for leaving the SBC. Wasn’t worth splitting the church over, though.

Some of us have from the pulpit and in private life. But not all of us can speak on behalf of an entire denomination.

Yes. And I’ve also been a member of a number of Southern Baptist churches, and I know - not guess, KNOW - the SBC “leadership” has no authority to speak for Southern Baptists. That can only come from the annual convention passing a resolution - which has not been done and can only be done once/year.
Even then, only a fraction of the 45,000 INDEPENDENT CHURCHES in the SBC bother to send anyone to the annual convention, so the annual convention can’t actually speak for anyone but those who attend.

Nope
There is a difference between a southern Baptist, which I am one, and the Southern Baptist church which is a terrible anti-American organization. They’ve been on the wrong side of American issue many times.
