Republican senators now regret not doing more to contain Trump

Republican senators say they feel a sense of growing regret over not standing up to President Trump sooner — a day after a violent mob ransacked the Capitol building in one of the darkest and most humiliating days in U.S. history.

One Republican senator who requested anonymity to discuss his conversations with GOP colleagues acknowledged GOP lawmakers should have served as a stronger check on the president over the past four years

You sure that is missing? Sounds to me like they are all screaming to have the chain pulled a little tighter.

“I won’t send a GOP candidate a damn penny unless President Trump asks me to.”

I wouldn’t even do that. Look what happened with all the candidates he stumped for the last four years. How did that work out? [coughLoefflerKempHagertycough].

Family has decided not to send money to RNC or any candidate. Will financially support only conservative media like FR, Bill Whittle, etc.

Yet more evidence that the two-party system isn’t. I don’t recall them doing ANYTHING to contain Obama, nor do I recall one of them regretting it.

Of course this article is pure propaganda, but if there’s one thing the GOP did a fantastic job of...it’s of thwarting Trump’s efforts to do just about everything.
.
.

AMEN!! these deep state thugs and their media propaganda machine are liars and gaslighters extraordinaire.

“””The problem with de-registering as a Republican is in some states you cannot vote as an independent in either primary.”””

Oh yes you can.

I am in Florida and I changed my voter registration from GOP to ‘No Party Affiliation” three weeks ago.

The next primary election in Florida will be August 2022.

If there is a strong conservative GOP candidate challenging Marco Rubio in 2022, I can change my voter registration back to GOP and vote for that conservative GOP candidate.

We can engage in creative writing exercises like this, too:

'One Democrat Senator who requested anonymity said that "Ignoring the feelings of Trump supporters is very dangerous" and he feels that younger collectivists in his party lack awareness of how thin support for their progressive policy proposals really is. "Like it or not, this is still America," he warned - noting that progress on initiatives like gun control and higher taxation will be very difficult to achieve under an unpopular President and Vice President who are widely seen as having stolen their offices.'

Mine is every bit as legitimate as the author's piece of doggerel. :)

“Look what happened with all the candidates he stumped for the last four years. How did that work out?”

You are right about that. It has been a disaster but it would have been a bigger disaster if the President had not been able to cajole Senate Rs to vote against impeachment.

Trump was not a politician but in his business career be learned he had to deal with the devil. Yes, he contributed to Hilary's campaigns; and no I didn't like it. I held it against him for a long time.

The reality is the U.S. was an ally of Red Russia during part of WWII. The Russians sopped up millions of casualties that benefited American troops. Yes it worked and no I still don't like it.

In hindsight President Trump did some distasteful things (campaigned for RINOs) to promote America; the Republican leadership does distasteful things to promote themselves.

Pretty much you have six senators worth anything and the rest are liars. I live in Kentucky and McConnell is the lead sleaze bag and Paul blows in the wind, my representative is trying to rival Sheets Byrd for the title of pork king, I literally have no representation at the federal level.

These anonymous Republican senators should tell everyone out there that the GOPE is the same bunch of cowards as before. They hate Trump and you their voters.

“The veneer of conservativism of these GOP quisling senators came off quicker than washable watercolor paints.”

Correct. Most GOP Senators are pragmatic career politicians. They have no ideology. Conservatism is a mask they wear at election time to woo the party voter base. Once in office they look after themselves, the party leadership, and the big donors. Compromise to them is part of getting along with their Democrat competitors in order to achieve limited short term objectives for themselves and their donors. There is no long term vision or strategy.

Democrats are committed ideologues first (socialists or communists) and political operatives. They have an end game and work together to achieve the ultimate vision. They refuse to compromise which forces the other side to either compromise or achieve nothing. Republicans will easily compromise “principles” for the long term in order to achieve a defense contract for a manufacturer in the district or a trade deal for a big donor.

Look at the latest Covid relief bill. $200 billion for direct relief to citizens. $800 billion for a variety of foreign aid projects, social justice projects, big business subsidies, and other unrelated projects. Much of that money will pass through consultants who in turn will pay off the politicians through campaign donations, lucrative speaking arrangements, employment of family members, and board or consulting assignments when the politician retires. Given the propensity for the GOP to compromise significantly in order to obtain limited objectives, it is likely 2/3 of the money will pass through the hands of social justice organizations, progressive law firms, and “non partisan non-profits” which in reality are allied with the progressive movement. These funds will ultimately finance voter registration drives, ballot harvesting and other Democrat efforts to build a permanent one party state for the nation such as exists in California, New York, Oregon and Washington.

So even when Republicans have a majority in Congress, they are willing to take 25 cents on the dollar for the donors and let the Democrats flow 75 cents through social justice organizations and consulting firms that in turn fund the Democrat party.

Now the Democrats are about to wield full power over the government. Over the past ten years they have made significant inroads into the Republican corporate donor base. Big Tech, mass media, and financial services companies are now putting their money disproportionately into Democrat campaigns. Republicans have been relying increasingly on a few aging well heeled billionaires, small business, and individual contributions to fund elections. Over the past year small businesses have been decimated by Covid. The most conservative individual donors are angry at what they perceive as betrayal by the GOP establishment. Democrats are using intimidation tactics, through their allied social justice organizations and mainstream media, to induce the remaining corporate donors to stop funding the “racist” Republican Party.

The Republicans who spent careers compromising, while feathering their nests, are about to see their world turn upside down. The Democrats will use their majorities in Congress, and control of the White House, to wield absolute power over legislation. Pelosi and Schumer may decide to stop allowing Republicans to receive any crumbs for their donors since they won’t need Republican votes to pass legislation. In addition, by cutting of funding for Republican projects, they can go to GOP donors and tell them to shift allegiances or see the federal spigot turn off.

In 2022, when GOP candidates go looking for money they are going to find the well is much shallower than it was in 2020. Without money to fund ground games and social media advertising, their message will be drowned out. In addition, 2022 may be the year where the conservative voter base stays home instead of voting for establishment politicians they know will not fight and will betray principles in a heartbeat. Finally, the manipulation of voting that allowed Biden to win will be extended to downstream races.

Winter is here.

So this is one Senator who is reporting his conversations with other Senators. So all the information is second hand. Given that the Senator is likely Senator Romney we know he cannot be trusted. So this story is FAKE NEWS.

Texas has Cratering Cornhole and Cruz the Chameleon(questionable legality to be elected at all). Cruz put on a good One Act Play with his kubaki speech and then turned the next day.

“Republican senators say they feel a sense of growing regret over not standing up to President Trump sooner — a day after a violent mob ransacked the Capitol building in one of the darkest and most humiliating days in U.S. history. “

That is patent nonsense after we have had four of the most humiliating years in American history with the entire media and their political party running one hoax after another against a sitting president, followed by a fraud of an election which rendered that same media patently sitting on their hands doing the three monkey silent treatment - see no evil, hear no evil, say no evil.
