The Capitol was closed for an exceptionally unusual session of both houses. There was concern for the security of the Capitol that was known and expected for weeks.

When I said "let them in" I was talking about the Capitol Police actively ushering them in, past broken windows, past broken locked doors, personally taking them into the building as they caused mayhem, taking selfies with them and passively watching all the illegal actions they were taking.
