I saw the video. A case could be made. It is obious she was the one climbing up and through the door. If you are going to illegally try to enter the capital violently (through a bvroken window), you just may get shot.

Sadly, one of the risks of being in a mob is that it skews your thinking, and you do things you would normally never do because you get caught up in the moment and are “empowered” by being surrounded by numbers of like minded people.

That is why, though her death is tragic, the shooter just may be able to make the case that the shooting was justified - from the perspective of a reasonable person in his shoes.

Sad but true. Fact is, if you are going to do what they did, you either take the place over and win, or back off. This is actually one of the reasons my wife and I didn’t go.

Sorry, but...

Nope.

She could have been grabbed and wrestled to the ground and cuffed -- like any other rioter in any number of cities over the past year have been. There is absolutely NO justification for deadly force in this instance.

"A case could be made."

No case can be made for what happened. The woman was a 14 year vet of the Air Force. She hadn't even put a part of her body through the window when she was shot. With her military service, don't you think she would have backed out if she'd seen the men with drawn weapons? So if she couldn't see them, which I believe is the truth, then they weren't able to see if anyone was behind her either. A simple "Back off" would probably have sufficed. She doesn't appear to be the type who wanted to commit suicide by police officer. There is no proof she was even given a warning. One of them shot, not knowing where the bullet they fired would end up. Had it missed or passed through her, it would have ended up in someone else that was milling about in the hallway. There were several armed, helmeted police officers behind her. That moron inside the chamber, shooting willy-nilly through a window, could have shot and killed one of them. You're supposed to know where the bullet you are about to release is going to end up. The man who fired that shot never bothered to find out, and probably didn't even give a shit. Not to worry though, he will be protected, and his job saved, and he can go back to working for whatever big-wig Democrat he's been protecting.

Or - he could have just captured her when she got through the window and cuffed her. But, hell, it's much easier to just end her life with center mass shot, isn't it?

At the Kavanaugh hearings they crowded the hallways and every now and then someone would push their way in to the actual hearing room. Funny.... nobody pulled a weapon on ‘em.

Your point of view, while it sounds all reasonable and sweet with sugar on top is actually way off the mark. Look closely at the video. In the background there are people walking calmly across the hall. Obviously they didn’t feel endangered. There also was a group of law enforcement officers immediately behind the woman. The dude who killed her crept forward from his hiding place and aimed, then took an extra step or two closer to the woman and fired. It was murder, plain and simple.

I get that. I’m talking about what will be presented in a court of law and the evidence at hand. Based on what is in the videos I’ve seen, the things you’ve called out, and the things I’ve called out, and I don’t see any prosecution surviving against that guy. If it was me and the facts were exactly the same, except the crowd was antifa or BLM, I would have been within my rights to shoot the one illegally climbing and crashing through the broken window. And I would have shot to kill.

I’m not saying he should have done it. I’m saying that as a human being - not a machine - it is reasonable to do what he did.
