Frankly the US Army would have many, many defections if Texas and few other states seceded. Probably a third. Many of the pilots would take their planes/helos with them....

We also have also lots of fmr retired military officers who can helm the new army and intelligence units we can get plenty of weapons/advanced deals too.

Perhaps there would be defections...but it is important to remember that in Texas, since we are using them as an example...or in Florida, or in most other red states, 45% of the population of the state would be on the federal government’s side against the state. This is not the clean cut thing that so many think it is...and the simple fact is the Red States, which I very much doubt at this time have any desire to oppose the federal government, would be outgunned and at a terrible financial and economic disadvantage.
