South Korea is sending military forces to respond to the seizure of one of its tankers by Iran, an endeavor in which it is seeking to work with other nations operating in the region
Iran's elite Revolutionary Guard announced Monday that its Zulfiqar fleet had seized a South Korean vessel operating in the Islamic Republic's First Naval District in the Persian Gulf "due to a series of violations of marine environmental laws" after it departed from Saudi Arabia's Al-Jubail port.
The ship, Hankuk Chemi, was said to be transporting up to 7,200 tons of oil-based chemicals, and carrying a crew of South Korean, Indonesian, Vietnamese and Myanmar nationals. Both ship and crew are being held at Iran's Bandar Abbas port, where the Revolutionary Guard said "the issue is to be dealt with by the judicial officials."
In response to the incident, a South Korean Defense Ministry official told Newsweek the country, officially known as the Republic of Korea (ROK),had "sent anti-piracy troops near the Strait of Hormuz for the ROK oil tanker directly."
Asked if South Korea would seek support from the International Maritime Security Construct, a U.S.-led coalition of at least nine nations designed to prevent acts of sabotage and prevent Iran from seizing international ships after a restive 2019 near the Strait of Hormuz, the official said Seoul sought "close cooperation with regards to the ROK government's and multinational anti-piracy naval troops."

I think the RINO’s are the ones who want to keep the forever war going. It was Trump who decided not to assist the Saudis after the attack on their oil refinery that sidelined a significant amount of the world’s oil production. I don’t see Trump committing US forces to attack this late in his presidency. I think that is what the Iranians are counting on. It will be interesting to see how this plays out.
Frankly, I am hoping that India, Saudi Arabia and Israel will step up to the plate and handle the situation. I for one am tired of the forever war.

This is a chemical tanker carrying a small load, probably loaded to the starboard side. Some tanks are dedicated to certain product to avoid costly cleaning between different loads. Ballast can compensate for this but for whatever operational reason they didn’t.
The foam wake you see to the starboard is from a boat coming alongside to board them.
what you say has merit. however, Trump will not let Iran poke him in the eye on ‘SOME think’ his way out of office. More likely there will be an ultimatum and an outcome before the 20th.
Bet on it. A response may even already have begun.
Timing. The Iranians just started increasing uranium enrichment.
The only stupid thing Iran did here is that they didn’t wait until 12:01PM on January 20th.
If they had then Joe would have paid them for this action and to re-start their terrorist actions across the globe.

This. They don’t have any idea who they are screwing with - the SKs don’t have the luxury of allowing themselves to be seen as soft, as they will be invaded a few weeks after the Norks come to that conclusion. Iran is going to soon have a bunch more martyrs.

Some of the ROK personnel know multiple martial arts, are experts at small arms and small arms combat, are incredibly physically fit, and are aggressive as all get out.
No doubt this Iranian act would have them chomping at the bit.
Plus, ROKN UDT/SEALs, aka “Flotilla”, are comparable to and train with USN SEALs.
