The state legislators are the ones that could have and should have intervened in each state to name electors. The idea that the sitting VP will override the electors provided by the states, in order to maintain power is terrifying long term.

Afraid I have to agree. No one is riding to our rescue at the 11th hour. There is no good ending to this movie.
